Tuesday, 8th December 2009 Borough were delighted to receive the following letter sent to club secretary John Parker from the match referee Paul Murphy after Saturday's game at Porthleven. Dear John
Senior Cup 05/12/2009 Porthleven v St Stephens Borough.
I thought I should put on record my appreciation of the attitude shown by your Manager and players in this game. I thought your sportsmanship was fantastic throughout and there was no better example of this than Andy (your Captain). His continual encouragement to players to ignore the conditions and play the game was a delight to witness. He was a credit to your club as were the other team members. Of course there was the odd moan about the pitch but it was more frustration than dissent.
I will remember this game as being one of the highlights of my year and I was grateful for the gracious comments made by your manager, about me, on Radio Cornwall. There is a plenty of evidence about concerning ill-will between players, mangers and referees so it is nice to record when, for once, we all worked together to get the game played.
I should be grateful if you could read out this letter at your next Committee Meeting so that my appreciation of your club might be formally minuted.
Yours in sport
Paul Murphy Referee

On Wednesday, 5th August 2009 Borough take on Phil Penprase's talented young Saltash United Duchy Premier Division side in Kimberley Stadium, kick-off 7.30pm. Away from Borough, Paul Blatchford has been appointed the new manager of St Dominick with Chris Truscott his assistant. Its likely the side will now have a more local St Dominick / Callington look to it rather than the Saltash based team it has been. Thursday, 18th June 2009 Russell Hake has today left St Cleer to become the new manager of Liskeard's East Cornwall Premier League team. This follows earlier changes which see Chris & Brian Pethick in charge of Saltash United res and Mark Blake newly installed at Lanreath. Also St Annes Chapel Duchy League side has folded with the team now forming Bere Alston reserves. Across the water in Plymouth the defection of clubs such as Plymouth Parkway, Elburton and Plymstock to the ECPL has meant the Plymouth & District League losing it's Premier Division which severs its links with the pyramid system as this article from the Evening Herald explains. "PLYMOUTH grassroots football clubs' last means of progressing up the national league ladder has gone due to lack of suitable stadia within the city boundaries. The Plymouth and West Devon Combination Football League, which runs Saturday and Sunday matches for teams in the city, 'reluctantly' decided to close the route by abandoning their Premier Division at their recent AGM. As a result of their action, starting in the 2009/10 season, no P&WD teams can move up the Football League pyramid system, via their nearest access point – the Peninsula League Division One East or Division One West. Ian Leonard, chairman of P&WDFL, admitted it was a sad day for football in Plymouth, but insisted there was no real alternative. Leonard blamed a combination of a paucity of suitable stadia in the Plymouth area and the knock-on effect of players opting to join the stronger, county football clubs had helped speed up the change. He said he had been particularly disappointed by an inability or unwillingness by clubs in the Premier Division last term to upgrade their grounds to the standards necessary to progress up the pyramid. The long-serving and hard-working city football chief also revealed that Saturday football would have three leagues and Sunday just the two divisions. He said: "We took the action reluctantly and although it's a sad day for Plymouth and District football, we had no option, really. "The quality of football is still high – look at Lakeside United's achievement in the FA Sunday Cup – but unfortunately the grounds are not up to standard. "And it is this off-the-field situation that has been the biggest disappointment to me and resulted in Plymouth losing their Premier status. "Having a Premier Division is the only way of moving up the league ladder, the grounds have to meet certain criteria and, sadly, they didn't. "For example, stadia must have dug outs, fencing, proper changing rooms etc, to qualify for the Peninsula status. "Look around you in Plymouth and you can see we're nowhere near good enough. "We need to have grounds like Plymouth Parkway and Elburton Villa have and we don't. "To their credit, a number of Saturday clubs did try and meet the requirements set for them last summer, but not enough. "Assurances that were given were not met by all the clubs. "Grassroots football in Plymouth has been in decline for some years, due to a number of factors. "Chief among them are the change of people's working arrangements, poor facilities at our grounds and other social pressures. "We've also lost a number of clubs and, therefore, footballers to the county leagues – either side of the Tamar – which is in a healthy state. "It's definitely sad to have lose the Premier Division but, in reality, we were left with no choice." The make-up of the 2009/10 scene in Plymouth sees Saturday with two senior leagues – Division One and Division Two – each with 14 teams. And also a new Division Three, which will have 10 sides, who will play each other three times and be classed as an intermediate division. Sundays are down to two leagues; a merging of last year's divisions one and two, into new a new Division One, with Division Three now formed into Division Two." Wednesday, 17th June 2009 For the second season in a row Borough face the Cornwall Junior Cup holders in a cup competition. Last season it was Portreath in the Cornwall Senior Cup, this season it is ECPL newcomers St Dennis in the ECPL League Cup. Full draw is: First Round Bere Alston v Lifton The ECPL AGM was held last night at brief details are: ECPL AGM 2009
The ECPL ratified membership to new teams Edgcumbe, Millbrook and St Dennis. The kick offs will be 3pm during the first part of the season and the latter with the winter kick offs being 2.30pm. There will be no Boxing day fixtures apart from Torpoint v Saltash. The season is from 15th August to 15th May. The league has a full compliment of 32 teams. Weds, 3rd June 2009 The date for the club AGM is Thursday 25th June,7-30pm Saltash Utd Social Club. Monday, 25th May 2009 Players are reminded that this Friday will be the end of season players meal including the presentation of the man of the match award for the season. The meal will take place at The Ploughboy 7.30pm. Saturday, 16th May 2009 Borough's finished their first season in senior football with a victory over Camelford. A brace from Stuart Fort, a goal from Jamie Manuel and the first goal of the season for Nathan Holliday and Steve Brown ensured the 5-3 victory. Borough had to travel without regular centre halfs Alistair Sinclair and Will Swales due to injuries and then had to play the whole of the second half without Max Parfitt due to injury. The victory means Borough finish fourth in the league only two points behind Bude in second place. Thursday, 14th May 2009 Borough's hopes of gaining promotion to the East Cornwall Premier League were dashed last night as they went down 2-0 away to league champions Parkway. Borough travelled without captain Jamie Manuel and top goal scorer Dave Wilkinson after the league gave the wrong fixture date out. Borough also lost Players Player Will Swales within the first 5 mintues through a hamstring injury. It has to be said that Borough put up a great team performance against the best team in the league. We are left to wonder what would have happended if Borough had put in the same performance last night in recent matches and whether they would have already secured second spot? Borough now travel to camelford for the last game of the season hoping to finish their first season in senior football with a win. The squad will need to be confirmed on the day as there are injury concerns to Alistair Sinclair and it seems unlikely Will Swales will be fit. Players to meet at 12.30pm. Tuesday, 12th May 2009 Borough face league champions Plymouth Parkway tomorrow night in a match which they have to win if they are to go into the final game of the season against Camelford still with a chance of coming second and getting promotion. Borough will have to show a significant improvement in their performance of recent weeks if they are to stand any chance of beating Parkway who have only lost 2 games all season. 'On our day we are capable of beating any team, which we showed by beating St.Blazey and I'm confidence that if all the players put in the commitment and performance I know they can, we can get the three points we need. At present we are just lacking a bit of self confidence and belief in ourselves and tomorrow's match is our chance to turn that around' explained manager Steve Brown. Borough will be without top goal scorer Dave Wilkinson and there are doubts over Jamie Manuel's inclusion who needs to confirm whether he has been able to get time off work. The squad to face Parkway will be from: Greene, Swales, Manuel, Bishop, Holliday, Sinclair, Wright, Hosking, Philp, Parfitt, Clark, Haste, Fort, Newton, Ticehurst, Miles. Players are to meet at 6.15pm at the leisure centre or 6.30pm at Bolitho Park 6.30pm for the 7.30pm kick off. Players are to inform the managers if they intend to travel straight to the ground. Sunday, 10th May 2009 Borough's game against Plymouth Parkway has just been changed to this Wednesday evening (7.30pm KO) and NOT Tuesday as the club was told only four days ago. Saturday 9th May 2009 Borough go down 4-3 away to Callington. Callington had three penalty decisions go their way which have put a big dent in Borough's promotion hopes. Borough are displaced from the second spot they have held for 6 months as Elburton leapfrog Bude following their 3-2 victory over them to go second. Friday 8th May 2009 Borough face Callington Town tomorrow in a must win match if they are to stay in the promotion spot. The other crucial match ofthe wekend is the match between Bude and Elburton. Borough will be hoping for an Elburton win or a draw. Borough will have a full squad tomorrow with the exception of Dave Miles. Nathan Holliday and Max Parfitt are both eligable to play following suspension. The squad will be; Greene, Holliday, Bishop, Swales, Sinclair, Manuel, Parfitt, Philp, Clark, Wright, Hosking, Newton, Ticehurst, Fort, Haste, Wilkinson. Players to meet at 11.45am for the 1pm kick off. Wedneday 6th May 2009 The Committee have agreed the process for recruiting a new Manager ( see diary) Tuesday, 5th may 2009 The fixture with Plymouth Parkway has now been confirmed as Tuesday 12th May kick off 7.30pm. Sunday 3rd May 2009 With Bude getting beaten 6-2 by Parkway yesterday it means that Borough are a point ahead with equal games played now and are back in the driving seat. Next week match against Callington will be a must win game as Parkway face tough matches against Roche and Elburton both of whom are convinced they can still get the second spot. As confirmed earlir Borough's match away to Callington will be a 1pm kick off with players and officials to meet at 11.45am on Saturday or 12noon at the pitch if players are travelling straight to the ground. Players must inform the managers if they intend to go straight to the pitch. Thursday 30th April 2009 Borough are awaiting formal confirmation but it seems likely that their next match away to Callington on the 9th May will kick off at 1.00pm. This is because Callington first team have a match at 3.00pm on the same day. Wednesday 29th April 2009 Borough were knocked out of the supplementary cup last night going down 5-1 (6-1) to Saltash United. Andy Wright scored Borough's only go from the penalty spot. Tuesday 28th April 2009 Team news update. It looks extremely unlikely that Tom Clark will be available for tonights match at Kimberley due to work commitments. However David Miles is now available and is added to the squad. Sunday 26th April 2009 The timetabled match between Borough and Parkway on the 6th May has been postponed. This is because the Supplementary Cup final is on the 7th May. A date for the game has yet to be confirmed. With Bude, Elburton and Roche all winning at the weekend the chase for second spot is hotting up. Bude are now a point behind Borough with a game in hand. The game in hand is against Parkway so Borough will be hoping Parkway do not take their foot of the gas now they are crowned champions. All Borough can now do is concentrate on winning their remaining three matches and hope Bude slip up. Meanwhile Borough have the cup to take their mind of the league. The second leg against Saltash is this Tuesday evening at Kimberley. Borough have to overturn a 1-0 scoreline if they are to meet Parkway in the final on the 7th May. Borough welcome back Tom Clark, Nathan Holliday and Steve Newton who missed the mid week trip to St.Dominick. They will hopefully have Paul Frost available who put in an excellent performance on Wednesday night. The full squad to face Saltash include, Greene, Holliday, Bishop, Manuel, Swales, Sinclair, Wright, Hosking, Ticehurst, Frost, Newton, Haste, Wilkinson, Fort, Clark Players to meet at 6.30pm at Kimberley Stadium. Thursday 23rd April MANAGERS 'SPRING' SURPRISE (DIARY) The points were shared last night at St.Dominick. St.Dominick took a first half lead as the ball was bundled into the net on 15 mintues. The second half saw Borough come back into the game and on 75 mintues Marc Hosking scored with a excellent strike from the right hand side of the penalty area. Whether this is viewed as a point gained or two points dropped will ultimately depend on the results of the remainif three matches and how Bude fair in their fixtures. Bude kept up their persuit of second spot beating Holsworthy last night 5-1. Borough have 52 points and have 3 games left and Bude have 48 points and have 5 games remaining. It looks like it is going to go to the wire but all Borough can do is concentrate on winning the remaining games and hope Bude drop points. Sunday 19th April Borough face a tough league match away to St.Dominick on Wednesday as they look to keep the pressure on Bude and the rest of the chasing pack. St.Dominick's form has improved significantly over recent weeks and Borough know they will have to be on top form. With four league games remaining Borough know that only three points will do on Wednesday. Borough will be without center midfield pairing Ben Philp and Tom Clark and will be without Dave Miles (work), Nathan Holliday (suspended) and Max Parfitt (Suspended). Borough do however welcome back Sam Ticehurst and Paul Frost and will have Dean Blagdon available on the bench should they need him. The squad to face St.Dominick will be from Greene, Bishop, Manuel, Swales, Sinclair, Wright, Newton, Hosking, Tichurst, Frost, Wilkinson, Haste, Fort, Blagdon Players and officials are to meet at 5.15pm on Wednesay or be at the pitch for 5.30pm (Please let the management know if players are intended to travel straight to the pitch) Saturday 18th April Below are the results from todays matches. Roche did Borough a big favour by beating Elburton Villa to ensure they are still ten points behind with only a single game in hand now. Holsworthy 1 Nanpean Rovers 0 Supplementary Cup Semi-Final (second leg) Plymouth Parkway 6 Bude Town 1 (Parkway win 7-2 on aggregate) Wednesday 15th April The final fixture list has now been published:- Wednesday 6th May: Parkway v St.Stephens Borough Saturday 9th May: Callington v St.Stephens Borough Saturday 16th May: Camelford v St.Stephens Borough Tuesday 14th April Players are reminded that training will be held at 6.30pm at Walfelton tomorrow night!! THURSDAY 9TH APRIL LATEST M-O-M TABLES AFTER WEDS GAME (DIARY) Thursday 9th April 2009 Borough held Saltash United at bay for 89 minutes in the first leg of the Supplementary Cup semi Final at Saltmill, conceeding a vital away goal with a minute left on the clock. Borough did themselves proud against one of the best teams in the Premier League. They now have all to play for in the second leg at Kimberley on Tuesday 28th April. Tuesday 7th April 2009 Borough host Saltash United Reserves tomorrow night (kick off 7.45pm) in the first leg of the Semi-final of the Supplementary Cup. The match will be Borough's first Saltash Derby. Borough will face the match without youngsters Dave Miles and Sam Ticehurst who both have a match for Saltash Youth and Max Parfitt who is suspended. The squad will be Greene, Bishop, Holliday, Manuel, Sinclair, Swales, Wright, Philp, Clark, Hosking, Newton, Haste, Wilkinson, Fort Players to meet between 6.30pm - 6.45pm. Saturday 4th April 2009 Without a game this weekend all eyes were on the results of the chasing pack and the results couldn't have been kinder to Borough with third, fourth and the fifth place teams all dropping points. Bude 2 v Elburton 2 St.Dominick 2 v Roche 0 Wednesay 1st April 2009 The league today confirmed the dates for the Supplementary Cup semi-final between Borough and Saltash United Reserves: Wednesday 8th April St.Stephens Borough V Saltash (7.45pm KO) Tuesday 28th April Saltash United V St.Stephens Borough (7.30pm KO) Players are advised that there is NO GAME this weekend. Players are to report between 6.30pm - 6.45pm next Wednesday. Monday, 30th March 2009 Borough had to come from behind to secure the vital victory over Napean Rovers. Second half goals from Dave Wilkinson and Ben Philp ensured all three points as Borough look to secure promotion. The race for second spot is hotting up with four or five teams still convinced they can grab that all important second spot. Borough have four games remaining and have a maximum 63 points available. Bude win all their remaining 8 fixtures and they will end up on 65 points. However there are still many matches to play with Bude still to play Elburton twice and tricky fixtures against Roche, Lifton and Parkway. Borough need to rediscover their form to ensure they continue to keep the pressure on the chasing pack and hope the results go their way. Thursday, 26th March 2009 Borough will face Saltash United in the Supplementary Cup semi-final. Saltash beat Tavistock 5-0 last night to ensure the first ever derby between the two Saltash clubs. The fixture will be played over two legs during April. ECPL CONFIRMED APPLICANTS FOR 2009-10 SEASON
Six clubs have officialy applied to join the ECPL for next season. Other applicants are expected although these can be accepted up to the AGM Please note that the Duchy League champions will automatically be promoted provided their facilities are accepted by the league. Millbrook (no team) Dobwalls (Duchy League Division One) College of St Mark and St John (Marjons) (Devon Wednesaday League) St Teath (Duchy League Premier Division) Edgcumbe (Duchy League Premier Division) St Dennis (Duchy League Premier Division) Wednesday, 25th March 2009 The April fixtures have now been published and as it stands at present the only confirmed fixture is away to St.Dominick on Wednesday 22 April. The league have informed us that the double headed semi final between the winners of Saltash and Tavistock will be timetabled but clearly this can only be done once we know who we are playing and it is liekly we will get one or two rearranged league fixtures. Theerfore players are to assume that we will have a full fixture list throughout April.
The following fixture takes place tonight:
ECPL SUPPLEMENTARY CUP Quarter Final Saltash United v Tavistock Borough face the winners in the semi-final.
Monday, 23rd March 2009 Notice to all Players. With the clocks going forward this weekend and with evening fixtures likely throughout April it has been decided not to continue training on Thursday evening at Saltmill. This is with immediate effect, as mentioned after the match on Saturday, so there will be no training this Thursday. Sunday, 22nd March 2009 Borough dropped three vital points in the promotion race against Polperro who on paper, should have been one of the easier places to travel to in the six match run. Borough put in a poor performance against an improved Polperro team who clearly wanted the three points more than the Borough players. A goal each half ensured a 2-0 victory for Polperro. With only five games remaining Borough will need to show more determination and passion in those matches if they want to compete in the ECPL Premier Division next season. Friday, 20th March 2009 The squad for tomorrows fixture at Polperro has been revised as it has been confirmed that Max Parfitt is unfit to be selected as is Sam Ticehurst. Thursday, 19th March 2009 Borough travel to Polperro this weekend looking to get all three points to keep the chasing pack at bay. Both Roche and Lifton dropped valuable points last weekend in their pursuit of Borough. Borough travel to Polperro without Tom Clark but welcome back Dave Miles and Sam Ticehurst to the squad. The only other doubt is Max Parfitt who failed to recover in time for last weeks trip to St.Blazey. It looks more likely that Parfitt will be ready for next weeks home fixture against Nanpean rather than this weekends game but a decision will be made on Friday. The squad to travel to Polperro is Greene, Holliday, Bishop, Swales, Sinclair, Manuel, Hosking, Wright, Philp, Ticehurst, Miles, Newton, Wilkinson, Haste, Fort, Parfitt Players and officials to meet at 12.45pm for the trip to Polperro Wednesday, 18th March 2009 Full list of results from last Saturday: ECPL RESULTS Saturday 14th March
Premier Division Bere Alston United 2 St Stephen 1 Division One Elburton Villa 5 Holsworthy 0 Rowett Insurance League Cup semi-final second leg Lanreath 5 St Dominick 1 (Lnareath won on aggregate 6-2) Sunday, 15th March 2009 Borough road their luck in the first half against a strong Blazey team fielding first team strickers but got the break they wanted when Alex Haste scored on 30 minutes from close range. The second half saw Borough turn on the class and dominated the second period for most of the time. Ben Philp sealed the victory on 60 minutes when he shot from 30 yards out. Friday, 13th March 2009 Having dropped valuable points to Lifton and Roche and with Bude defeating Parkway, this weekends game is a massive fixture for Borough who need all three points to stay ahead of the pack. Borough will travel with a full squad as they welcome back Marc Hosking and Ben Philp to the squad. The only doubt is over Max Parfitt who looked doubtful at the beginning of the week but will wait to see if there is any reaction following training last night. Full squad is Greene, Bishop, Holliday, Manuel, Swales, Sinclair, Parfitt, Wright, Miles, Philp, Clark, Hosking, Wilkinson, Newton, Haste, Fort, Ticehurst Players and officials to meet at 12.45 at Saltash Leisure Centre.
Saturday, 7th March 2009 Borough shared the points with Roche as the match ended in a one all draw. The result means Borough failed to pull away further from the promotion pack but Roche don't gain any ground on Borough either. Borough had the better of the first half with Stuart Fort latching onto an Andy Wright cross on 35 minutes to open the scoring from close range. Dave Greene made a couple of excellent saves to deny Roche. The second half saw Roche draw level within 6 minutes of the restart as Borough failed to deal with a cross. Both teams were chasing the victory but it was Borough who had the better chances with Andy Wright, Dave Wilkinson, Stuart Fort and Tom Clark all having good chances to put Borough ahead. It was Roche who welcomed the final whistle more than Borough. Borough now need to get back to winning ways away to St.Blazey next weekend. Wednesday, 4th March 2009 Having dropped three points to Lifton this weekends fixture against third place Roche has even greater importance. Roche are nine points behind Borough but with two games in hand this is a classic six pointer. Borough welcome back Dave Greene, David Miles and Steve Newton to the squad but will be without Ben Philp and Marc Hosking. Saturday, 28th February 2009 Borough let the lead slip twice in a 4-2 defeat away to Lifton. Borough had the better of the first half and should have gone into the interval a goal up when Andy Wright put Borough ahead but with less than 30 seconds remaining Lifton pulled a goal back. The second half again saw Borough start the better team and when ahead again with a goal from Stuart Fort. Borough were then made to pay for some defensive errors and some indiscipline as they concened three goals to a Lifton tema who seems more up for the match in the last thirty minutes. Thursday, 26th February 2009 Borough make the trip to 9th place Lifton this weekend knowing this match will not be as easy as the league table may predict. Lifton have only played 13 matches and with their games in hand could potentially be in third place if they win all their outstanding fixtures. Lifton have also just made it into the Devon Senior Cup final so are sure to be a strong side. Borough go into the match without first choice keeper Dave Greene who will be replaced by Tom Hemmett. Borough will also be without Dave Miles (hamstring) and Steve Newton (away). The squad to face Lifton will be: Hemmett, Bishop, Manuel, Swales, Sinclair, Holliday, Wright, Parfitt, Clark, Hosking, Philp, Wilkinson, Fort, Ticehurst, Haste. Players and officials to meet at 12.45pm at Saltash Leisure Centre Sunday, 22nd February 2009 Borough made it seven league wins in a row after an excellent victory over Bude Town. Borough were made to work very hard for a one all draw at Bude and expected a close competitive game which is what they got. The first half belonged to Borough who played the better football and it looked like they would ake a 2-0 lead into the interval with goals from Andy Wright and Dave Wilkinson but with 48 minutes on the clock Bude got one back. The second half was more even with both teams having opportunities to score Borough again Borough scored 2 to Bude's single goal winning 4-2. The win keeps Borough in second place and with tough fixtures coming up against Lifton (away) and Roche (home) in the next two weeks the three points were a must. Friday, 20th February 2009 Borough have a key home match against Bude Town this Saturday. While Borough are currently in second place and 12 points clear of them Bude have three games in hand and both teams are desperate for all 3 points to stay in the promotion race. Borough welcome back Ben Philp, Alex Haste and Steve Newton to the squad who all missed last weeks trip to St.Columb. Borough will however be without Dave Miles and Tom Clark. The squad for the fixture will be, Greene, Holliday, Bishop, Manuel, Sinclair, Swales, Parfitt, Wright, Philp, Hosking, Wilkinson, Fort, Haste, Ticehurst, Newton Players and officials to meet at 1.15pm as normal Thursday 19th February 2009 The rearranged fixture with Roche on the 7th March which was then cancelled has now been changed again so Borough are now going to be playing Roche on the 7th March at home. The fixture list has been amended again!! Tuesday 17th February 2009 The ECPL have just informed us that the change of fixture against Roche on the 7th March was in fact an error. We will have to wait to see what the rearranged fixture will be. Monday 16th February 2009 Borough have just been informed on some fixture changes. 7th March - Roche Football Club - Home KO 2.30pm 21st March - Polperro Football Club - Away - KO 2.30pm (this replaces the St.Dominick fixture) The full up to date list is on the fixture page. Sunday 15th February 2009 Borough travelled to St.Columb expecting a tough match and with a much depleted squad and a heavy pitch to play on they certainly got what they were expecting. Borough weren't at their best but went into the interval a goal up thanks to a Marc Hosking corner which seemed to by pass all the defenders and attackers and find its way into the back of the net. The second half Borough extended their league when Max Parfitt crossed for Andy Wright to head home. Not a great performance by Borough but its been 2 months since they have played on grass and the three points keep them in second place. The draw for the next round on the Supplementary cup has taken place: Supplementary Cup: St.Stephens Borough v Saltash/Camelford/Tavistock and Bude Town v Plymouth Parkway
Friday 13th February 2009 Borough return to league action this weekend with an away trip to St.Columb. The last league fixture for Borough was six weeks ago so Borough will be keen to have the opportunity to get some league points. Borough will be without Ben Philp, David Miles and Alex Haste for the trip. The availability of Tom Clark will also not be known until later today. The squad to face St.Columb will be Greene, Holliday, Bishop, Parfitt, Manuel, Swales, Sinclair, Wright, Clark, Hosking, Newton, Wilkinson, Fort, Ticehurst Players to meet at the Leisure centre for a 12.30 departure. Monday,9th February2009 New web page 'BOROUGH DIARY' reporting club events and items of interest.
Sunday, 8th February 2009 Borough progressed to the semi final of the Supplementary Cup after beating Plymstock 5-2. borough were 4-1 at the interval thanks to goals Andy Wright, Dave Miles, Stuart Fort and the best of the match Marc Hoskings. The second half was more even with both teams getting on the score sheet, Dave Wilkinson scoring Borough's fifth. Borough will now have to wait to see who they draw in the semi final. Friday, 6th February 2009 It looks like yet again the weather is going to disrupt the fixture list this weekend. However as always it is highly likely that Borough's fixture against Plymstock will be on due to the excellent playing surface at Saltmill. As long as the pitch is not covered in snow or frozen solid it will be game on. Borough welcome back to the squad Dave Greene, Ben Philp and Max Parfitt so should have a full squad at their disposal to face Plymstock in the Supplementary Cup. The only doubt is Alex Haste who is still not fully recovered from a groin strain and will more than likely be rested for another week. The game will be played to a finish tomorrow with extra time and penalities if needed. The full squad is, Greene, Holliday, Manuel, Swales, Bishop, Parfitt, Sinclair, Wright, Miles, Philp, Clark, Hoskings, Ticehurst, Newton, Fort, Wilkinson. Players are to meet at 1.15pm Wednesday, 28th January 2009 Borough now have a full fixture list for February due to the added fixture on the 21st February with a home fixture to Bude. Players are reminded that training will take place as always tomorrow night 8pm-9pm at Saltmill. Sunday, 25th January 2009 Borough were knocked out of the fourth round of the Cornwall Senior Cup going down to Callington 5-1 in front of a large crowd (150+). Borough needed to be at their best to get anything from this game but on the day, despite the lack of several key players, just did not perform well enough. Borough conceeded an early goal but drew level from the goal of the game from Dave Wilkinson. However some sloppy play in which Borough gave the ball away ensured Callington went into the break 3-1 up. Callington found the net twice in the second half and but for some excellent saves from Tom Hemmett it could have been more. Despite the defeat Borough can be proud of their performance in the senior cup this year beating three higher ranked clubs. The run has also meant some much needed revenue for the club. Another positive for Borough was the return of Alistair Sinclair you played his first 20 minutes of the season following his ankle injury in the pre-season friendly against Cullompton in August. Borough have no fixture next saturday and are back in cup action the following week against Plymstock in the Supplementary cup. The league results went Boroughs way this weekend with Roche and Bude drawing one each and St.Blazey going down to Holsworthy 4-2. Thursday, 22nd January 2009 With the weather forecast predicting more rain it seems likely that Boroughs match against Callington will be one of the few fixtures to be played this weekend which will surely mean an large turn out. The attendance against St.Blazey was 150 so it will be going some to better that but who knows. It is Boroughs final training session tonight ahead of the big match so it is vital that there is a good turnout. The details of the final squad will be announced after training to ensure there are no additional injuries. Wednesday, 21st January 2009

A very welcome face, back at training for the first time this season was Alistair Sinclair and although he is not yet ready to fully resume his Borough career, he is on his way back. Friday, 16th January 2009 Its not just Borough who have been left without a game recently as news from north of the border is that the club's ex-secretary's trip to watch Pollok was in vain as the game was called off virtually as he got there! Whilst no game for Borough tomorrow he will be endeavouring to watch
weather permitting of course! Wednesday, 14th January 2009
