The Two Towns' Match takes place Tuesday September 8th 2009 at Poole Chess Club. If you haven't already given your name to the Poole Captain, Chris Ambrose, please hurry.

We will enter 4 teams in the Bournemouth & District League Winter Team Tournament and 1 team in the Dorset League Winter Tournament.

The Club's Internal Tournament. My suggestion is a Belgrade System Elimination Knock Out with elimination according to the method for electing the French President. Win=2 points. Draw=1 point. Loss=0 points.

1st Round Seeded pairing. All contestants play. Bye player gets 2 points

2nd Round. Seeded pairing. All contestants play. Bye player gets 2 points. At end of 2nd round players with less than 2 points are knocked out.

3rd round. Seeding if still possible. At end of 3rd round players with less than 3 points are knocked out.

Nth round. Players with less than N points are knocked out.

Rate of play. Whatever you mutually agree. Default rate Bournemouth League.

First prize. Poole Chess Club Cup. Second, Marples Cup. Third, Minor Shield.

Suggest start date mid October. Roughly one month per round. Failure to play a round Controller decides. Innocent player gets 2 points. Guilty gets 0. Only one player can be innocent, but two players could be guilty. Failure to play a round does not prevent you from entering the next round.

Contestants. Not sure whether to go for compulsory or voluntary entry.

I'll listen to any ideas, but the AGM did agree on a KO tournament.
