This blog is about the characters encountered, gossip, highs & lows of being a market trader Hooray January is over
Source: Myriad Life January is down, just February to go. If a market trader can survive these two months then hope springs eternal, come spring that is, right now we all fight winter blues & financial dire straits. Isn't it typical? Every year it's the same. As a market trader I rely on my trusty (sometimes rusty) van to get me through the year. Can't trade without it, no van, no market = no dosh. Simple enough equation. While I should be grateful that it is the quietest time of the year that the "brake wear & tear" sign has lit up, I'm in fact hopping mad. Why now? I need another expense like the proverbial hole in the head. Not that it matters anyway, the 90mph gusts (only a slight exaggeration) put paid to any thoughts of trundling off to Fakenham today. The brake light was the icing on the cake or should I say the flash on the dash. So I booked the van (not my darling dear van when it is playing up) in to have the brakes done this afternoon. In the meantime I decided to take my Mum shopping to cheer her up. Barely have we navigated the clothing department in John Lewis than she complained of feeling unwell. This I have to take very seriously given that she had major heart surgery four months ago and a few ops since the last being just before Christmas. So an ambulance ride later we spent five hours in A&E waiting for a bed. I have to say the ambulance men were terrific and the N&N have provided excellent care throughout our numerous visits over the past few months. But we were hoping never to have to revisit. So much for the best laid plans. Definitely no market tomorrow or the next day but I can't care about that, all I want now is my Mum home and an uneventful safe healthy February. Wish us luck. Meanwhile here is a lovely bracelet Myriad Life has in stock at the moment, visit www.myriadlife.co.uk for further details - happy browsing!
