Reasons to be Cheerful

Mmmm let me think. Well I've recorded Desperate Housewives so I can look forward to watching that. The new Bond film will eventually be released and I can't wait to see it. It's Salsa tonight...

Blogging Heaven

I've clocked up some serious hours this week working on my blogs and websites, my eyes are square, my head is throbbing and I have an annoying little knot in my left shoulder which I'm sure has been caused by keyboarditus.

Enough to drive you NUTS!

I can't stand seeing any more propaganda re Alzheimers. All this rubbish about if you keep your brain active, if you eat folic acid, if you ease up on the alcohol and stop smoking, ENOUGH!

Hubble Bubble Van & Trouble

There are those who might think I am a witch at times but some days I wish a was. I'd love to cast a spell across my van dashboard right now and make the flashing lights disappear but guess I'll have to stick to less mystical solutions!

Fordham Market Easter Monday is cancelled

Thankfully this is supposedly the last early Easter for sixty years. Four precious days without trade has left us cursing at this most holy of times but in truth I was much in need of a holiday.

There's No-one Quite Like Squeaky!

They say laughter is akin to crying well that's how we got through today. Squeaky had us in stitches, and let's face it a good giggle is the best medicine.

Nightmare in Norfolk

This week has become a nightmare, just when I thought things should get better they get worse. How much optimism is one person supposed to store in their tiny brain?

Treat 'Em Mean, Keep 'Em Keen

Dear General Public, please do not apply this principle to market traders! We can't stay keen forever. T'was a lean, mean day at Fakenham today.

Hooray January is over

January is down, just February to go. If a market trader can survive these two months then hope springs eternal, come spring that is, right now we all fight winter blues & financial dire straits.

Isn't it typical? Every year it's the same. As a market trader I rely on my trusty (sometimes rusty) van to get me through the year. Can't trade without it, no van, no market = no dosh. Simple enough equation.

While I should be grateful that it is the quietest time of the year that the "brake wear & tear" sign has lit up, I'm in fact hopping mad. Why now? I need another expense like the proverbial hole in the head. Not that it matters anyway, the 90mph gusts (only a slight exaggeration) put paid to any thoughts of trundling off to Fakenham today. The brake light was the icing on the cake or should I say the flash on the dash.

So I booked the van (not my darling dear van when it is playing up) in to have the brakes done this afternoon. In the meantime I decided to take my Mum shopping to cheer her up. Barely have we navigated the clothing department in John Lewis than she complained of feeling unwell. This I have to take very seriously given that she had major heart surgery four months ago and a few ops since the last being just before Christmas. So an ambulance ride later we spent five hours in A&E waiting for a bed. I have to say the ambulance men were terrific and the N&N have provided excellent care throughout our numerous visits over the past few months. But we were hoping never to have to revisit. So much for the best laid plans.

Definitely no market tomorrow or the next day but I can't care about that, all I want now is my Mum home and an uneventful safe healthy February. Wish us luck.

Meanwhile here is a lovely bracelet Myriad Life has in stock at the moment, visit www.myriadlife.co.uk for further details - happy browsing!

Everyday life of a Norfolk market trader, the highs & lows, battles with weather, interesting characters - experiences of a sole trader.

This blog is going to be all about the adventures of Myriad Life, a market stall I set up nearly six years ago selling jewellery & batiks.

If you want more information on the products Myriad Life sell please visit www.myriadlife.co.uk where you can find details of the markets and shows we attend throughout the year.

Keep your eye on this blog for an amusing insight into what it is to be a traditional trader in the modern world both as a business minded individual and as a woman.
