Source: Shaunandez Keeping you up to date with what's been going on during the Sunday show with me Shaun Crerand.
Hope we're all well, and before we get right down to it, sorry about the lack of last weeks Blog, something seemed to be up with itsmymarket.com ... oops! So what have we been up to today on the show, well ... Mass Debating and playing all the lastest and greatest New Music in the half hour of power, love it! If you've never managed to listen in to the show then you'll be wondering what we're talking about when we're mentioning Mass Debating, well ... It's a Debate, in Mass, you get me? So what were we Deabting about today then? Well ... A former England footballer, former Tottenham Hotspurs and Rangers player, he scored one of the most memorable goals EVER for England against Scotland, who is it? GAZZA of course, Paul Gascoigne. So a report came out in the Daily Star that he's been spotted out and about on the lash again, days after being warned that he's drinking himself to death. The Football legend tried to cash a cheque for £10,000 to buy food at an all-night shop. Confused Gazza, who made the cheque out to himself, claimed his cash card had been stolen. Gazza was found wondering London's West End at 3am looking gaunt and bleary-eyed. This lastest binge comes a week after the suicidal star was in rehab, admitting "he feared the worst". Three weeks ago hotel staff called the police after he tried to drown himself in a bath. Apparently some big names in British football are discreetly trying tosave Gazza from an early grave, they have begged people not to buy him drinks and landlords not to let him prop up their bars. So the burning question today was; - WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP HIM? First in on the phones was Kate, she said "He's George Best gone wrong, he's a waste of space and only going from bad to worse. If Gazza carries on the way as George then he will end up in the same place, 6 feet under". Grim stuff but thats the reality really isn't it, we see it so clearly with George Best, he has all the help he could want, but ultimatly his addiction got the better of him. Next in on the email was James he said "The man is a legend but he has some serious demons. my heart goes out to him, I hope he overcomes it one day but I just don't see him beating it. Often the most gifted, are the most afflicted. Other views were; - Lorna, "Another George best in the making". - Pauline, "How can you help someone that doesn't want to help himself, fed uop hearing about him" - Anon Text, "Let him get on with it. People have tried to help him but he has just thrown it back. He should get no more help". - Ricky, "We need to give a hand to help this 'legend' and not leave him to be alone. Don't give up because you tried once, twice nd even 10 times. Help him while we can and don't say 'he cannot be helped', not until you have been through what he has!". Good bit of debating going throughout the fens today I tell you, plenty in favour of him getting help and plenty saying let him get on with it. What will happen? I just dont know, I just wish him the best and hope he makes a full recovery and back to his old self. The next BIG feature on the Sunday show is the 'HALF HOUR OF POWER', we play you 30 minutes of non-stop new music. Here's the tunes and the details; KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES - GIVE ME WHAT I WANT Welsh quintet have released thier second single, this one being record of the week last week. It's available to buy right now and it comes from their brand new album 'SMART CASUAL' which comes out tomorrow (26th May) THE SUBWAYS - ALRIGHT Current record of the week here on Fen Radio, it's The Subways 1st single from their hotly anticipated new album 'ALL OR NOTHING' which comes out June 30th. The single 'ALRIGHT' comes out on June 16th. GUILLEMOTS - FALLING OUT OF REACH Single number 2 from this band. 'FALLING OUT OF REACH' is somewhat different to thier first single 'GET OVER IT', it's a stripped down acoustic tune and will out for all to hear tomorrow, and it comes from their massive album 'RED', which is out right now. NICKELBACK - PHOTOGRAPH Canadian rock monsters have almost taken over the world with 'ROCKSTAR' and plan for universal domination with the re-release of 'PHOTOGRAPH', it comes out tomorrow and it comes from their album 'ALL THE RIGHT REASONS'. WE ARE SCIENTISTS - CHICK LIT They're back with a new single, but minus a drummer. We Are Scientists release 'CHICK LIT' a week tomorrow (June 2nd). It's single number 2 from 'BRAIN THRUST MASTERY'. The guy describe thier sound as "rock music of the thoughtful, sometimes epic, often loud, vaguely dancable, implicitly variety". DURAN DURAN - SKIN DIVERS 80's New Romantics come back to 2008 with a brand new single, brand new sound and brand new colaboration. This song features 'Timbaland' and will be released on June 2nd, it also features on thier newest album ''RED CARPET MASSACRE' THE RASCALS - FREAKBEAT PHANTOM Three-piece Indie boys from the Wirral release 'FREAKBEAT PHANTOM' a week tomorrow whilst getting ready for their first full length 'RASCALIZE' which will be out for you to buy on June 16th. ELBOW - ON A DAY LIKE THIS The final track on the Half Hour of Power comes from Elbow, it's the bands second single from their chart topping album 'THE SELDOM SEEN KID'. This track sounds almost orchestral in places but that only adds to the superb sound of this band that have been around for almost 10 years, it just goes to show that success donesn't come easy and/or quickly. Sooooooooo, thats what goes on between 11am and 4pm on a Sunday on Fen Radio 107.5. Hope you've enjoyed listening/reading. And I'll catch up with you crazy cats very soon. Bye d'Bye Take Care Shaun p.s - if you just can't get enough then tune in to Fen Radio tomorrow and listen to me from 7am - 12pm and you could back yourself £25 on the Mystery Voice or £500 on the £500 Sound, sound good? Source: Shaunandez Hello, this is my debut blog on here, Basically it's a Blog all about the bits and bobs that I do during my Radio show on a Sunday from 11am - 4pm ... Good afternoon All. My Name is Shaun Crerand, and I'm now using itsmymarket.com to use this as another tool to attract people to the radio show that I do on Fen Radio 107.5 I have been doing this slot for around 6 - 9 months and in the beginning it was something to really help me develop my skills as a presenter, since then I've tried to make this show MINE, because the presenter before me had a few little features that I then took on ... That was ok for the short term, but I didn't want it to be the same show just with another voice, I wanted it to have it's own identity. So thats what I did, I've introdce 2 main features; THE MIDDAY MASS DEBATE First of all, The Midday Mass Debate is as the tittle suggests, it happens at Midday and what we do is debate ... in mass. So each week we tackle the main subjects that rise up in the news that week. In other editions of this feature we've talked about all kinds of things, MORALS, MUSIC, PETROL PRICES, TROOPS, WAR and today we talked about FOOD A report in the papers came out Friday that we (Brits) throw away £10 Billion worth of food, this new research shows we bin a staggering ... 1.6m bananas Shocking I know ... So that was pretty mucht he question we was asking the people of the Fens. Why are we wasting so much food? First in on the phones was Kate in Wisbech, she said she hates wasting food. If anything she prepared/cooked wasn't eated by her then it would go straight to the dog. Kate also thought that people seemed to have lost the ability to cook or shop efficiantly, and we need more teachers to help our kids learn this dying trade. Dianne was next in, but her oppintons came in via email, Dianne said - I don't throw away food, I think some blame must go to the lack of 'Home Economics' at school. Maybe if they had a subject on 'Basic Lifeskills', it could cover planning food shopping for a week, as well as all theose little things. Other calls, texts and email came in from Keith, Lizzie, Brenda, Angela and Rachael, having their view, so much fun was had! The next big feature I love to do is 'THE HALF HOUR OF POWER' This feature is all about music, and new music at that, we play as many tracks as we can fit into a half hour period, it's all new and it's all good, if you don't believe me then listen to Fen Radio on a Sunday from 1.50pm, and I'll prove it to you. Todays track listing is as follows; Young Knives - Turn Tail The Futureheads - Radio Heart Foals - Red Sox Pugie The Zutons - Always Right Behind You Paramore - That's What You Get Weezer - Pork & Beans Ting Tings - That's Not My Name Story of the Year - Wake Up So, that was the Half Hour of Power and that beings me towards the end of this first blog of mine.
