Travel writing competition for travelers to submit their travel moment which includes activity and adventure holidays, history and culture vacations, walking, climbing and trekking trips and sports, water activities and wildlife tours.

Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of the most amazing national parks anywhere. Virunga is a microcosm of the whole planet. It has plains, wetlands, lakes, mountains, volcanoes and even glaciers. The amount and diversity of birds and animals in the park is amazing. There are many species here that are found nowhere else on earth. The park is also home to a staggering array of plant life. Trees, flowering plants, grasses and more turn the park into a veritable Garden of Eden. Most travel writing experts agree Virunga National Park is an excellent place to go if you crave adventure.

Opened in 1925, Virunga National Park is Africa's oldest game reserve. It was initially called Albert National park but the name was changed in 1969 out of respect for the native inhabitants. The park encompasses 3,000 square miles between the Virunga Mountains, the Rwenzori Mountains, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Rwenzori National Park in Uganda.

The diverse ecosystem contained in Virunga National Park sets it apart from most other parks. There is marshland, grassland, alpine meadows, rainforest, plains, plateaus, mountains, rivers, lakes, volcanoes and glaciers within the confines of the park.

Each years thousands throng to see Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira, two active volcanoes in Virunga National Park. But as most of the travel writing points out, the park's biggest attraction is the mountain gorillas. Virunga National Park is the only place in Africa to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The park also has forest gorillas, forest and savannah elephants, giraffe and buffaloes. Be sure to visit Lake Kivu and see the hippos in Lake Edward.

The travel writing professionals are correct when they say a visit to Virunga National Park is an unforgettable experience. Go to Africa and experience it.
