Gave up fags years ago so they can continue to extort tax from smokers although I'd like to see some sort of similar penalty for the larger sized amongst us who fail to restrain their eating habits.

Scotch frozen - hurrah so that's only about 85% of the price going to the Treasury.

Cider up a penny - that'll raise about a tenner a year then.

I was both elated and dismayed at the taxes imposed regarding vehicles. Not so much bothered by the petrol duty but the additional road tax on "none green" motors. Last night I resprayed the Bentley British Racing Green but I don't seem to have made a saving at all.
