The fifth annual Contemporary Craft Fair on 6th to 8th June 2008. Contemporary Crafts or Over priced "Art"?

Craft Fair Bovey Tracey Devon

Another hot date in the tourist/holiday calender - the Devon Guild of Crafts (men and women) are again playing host to the Contemporary Craft Fair in the Guilds home town Bovey Tracey.

The event attracts hundreds of designers and artists to exhibit and sell their work as well as lead masterclasses and workshops for visitors of al abilities.

The admission is a reasonable £6 for adults and free parking quite rightly is available.

The Good, Bad and Arty-Farty

Even for a simple rural chap the craft fair experience is hardly the equivilent of Glastonbury but ironically attracts a large number of pretentious young erban media types who oh-my-gosh and golly WOW its just like simply amaaaaaazing there way around the stalls desperate to part with their money in a Harry Enfield "I saw you coming" style.

Talking of festivals this Glastonbudget has to be worth a mention but I can find one thing the craft faire shares with Glastonbury - MUD

Pasty Muncher Heaven

This year should see plenty of family friendly things to do during the craft fair - and if all else fails grab a proper pasty at the show ground or explore Bovey Tracey which has a disproportionate number of pubs for its size who I don't doubt will be happy to see their trade grow.

heads up for:-

  • Unlike Vicar of Dibley Kylie will not be opening fair

  • Freelander ferry ride from quag mire carpark

and proud supporter

  • "Pull Yourself Together Curtains"
