With the choice of 4 x 4 vehicles increasing how hard is it to stick with THE original off-roader - Land Rover

Following a winter of discontent with the Bentley (it was playing up back in August) and having moved into a one horse town on the edge of Dartmoor I'm becoming more and more tempted by the appeal of off road vehicles.

After a thumping good downpour in the night - there's been a couple - I practically need a tractor to get as far as the pub. So the daunting task of selecting the appropriate beast begins.

More and more tradesfolk round these parts seem to be going for the reliability of Japanese pick up trucks but I'm not sure I want to be seen sitting in a Izusi Jizz Ilux Trail - Its just not british. I saw this video of the land rover defender and it blew me away.

Land Rover Best of British

The sales pitch tells me that choosing a Land Rover isn't about image or looking cool - it's a lifestyle statement. Subscription to the landrover owners magazine was offered to me and browsing through the last issue I am told that as a Land Rover owner I am confident and feel I have little to prove. How true.

"Landrover ownership is a bit more of a lifestyle choice, the dream of going wherever you want, the thought of travel in strange places, the independance to do your own thing, rugged reliability....." is a comment echoed many times on Landyzone forum for Land Rover fans.

Pasty Compatible?

It would seem so - this imposter is an established member of the forum who lists Land Rovers and Shooting as hobbies and includes a signature that claims he spent all his money on booze, fast women and slow horses.
