Did you hear about the bomb in Exeter?

It hadn't even blown the bloomin' door off, which is the least you'd expect for some kind of terror attack. It wasn't us claim the Pasty Liberation Front.

They say the bank always wins - play them at their own game and get another £100 free. FIST DIRECT

Get a better current account and earn ANOTHER Free £100

Back last summer I was happy to share how to get a better current account and be rewarded with £100 free. by opening a current account with First Direct.

This I was reminded was too good to be true however the bank honoured its offer and coughed up which then caused this gloat about the successfull mission.

Last month i received a letter and statement from First Direct which included a £10 admin charge (to be applied the following month) which on investigation was because I "hadn't deposited the required monthly sum" during the previous months.

You can read one approach to this banks nonsense on this hit sandwich blog

I had very carefully ensured that I met the requirements of the offer (the basic requirement was to deposit £1500 each month and after checking my records I was sure of my ground and refered bank to the First Direct website.

I'm not blind - the bank had missed a trick

I couldn't believe my eyes.

On the home page a whopping splash - still offering the £100 for joining but also offering ANOTHER £100 if you leave before 12 months and have met the requirement of depositing the necessary amount for at least 6 months.

They can't pull the curtains over my eyes

A window of opportunity - will they pay me to leave?

I immediately called foul! I demanded the £100 for leaving as per the terms and conditions and transfered the full balance to another account (the £10 charge not yet deducted) then closed the account.

Another ton up

MUNCH ON
