Met Office Epic Fail

Source: Kim Mutton
Thursday 30th July 2009, 1:27pm

I don't care what the weathermen say...

...cos the weathermen say its raining.

As the popular beat combo Boys Own sang - "You say it best when you say nothing at all".

Met Office Epic Fail

This message this really should be communicated throughout the Met office who today admitted that their prediction of "odds on for a Barbecue summer" was an epic fail. Met Office revised forecast were issued today suggesting that the weather for the coming months could be changeable. Well blow me down with a deflating lilo - summer in Britain - changeable weather - give them boys a pay rise.

As reliable as a man and a van

The statement from the Met Office came on the radio as I waited for a hired van and a man to help shift some furniture - the roof rack on the Bentley really is only strong enough to support a longboard and having taken the forecst by the Met Office on board I figured I'd let soemone else heave ho the beds and sofas around in the heat so hired a man with his jolly hire van.

New Beds to deliver

I had been browsing my favourite price comparison site and came across a site that was seling new beds at half the price of high street bed shops - the only catch was that they charged a fortune for delivery - hence the economics of hiring a van (plus man) to pick up the beds and drop them off at both houses.

Van Hire

The problem I've always found with van hire is they are white vans and as such attract a lot of attention from spotters of "white van man" - another reason to pay extra for the man with the van.

Keep on Moving

Advice from a leading healthcare awareness charity

To stay alive you have to keep moving and to keep moving you have to eat.

Advice from a leading healthcare awareness charity

Blood pressure charity beginning to promote its awareness week. Like so many charity organisations they rely on volunteer help and support

Healthy eating and blood pressure

As regular visitors to the market place know I am partial to the odd pasty however the latest dietary information suggests that healthy eating helps lower blood pressure - unfortunately the humble pasty fails to make it onto the healthy diet sheet so I need to find other ways to look after myself.

Exercise and blood pressure

Running

Armed with the fab latest ipod - the monster iPod Touch 32GB (the most fun ipod) - I've begun a regime of jogging - pounding (well pacing) the streets - head full of tunes in order to give the cardiovascular system a work out.

Swimming

Its about this time of year that the waters around the south west coast begin to warm sufficiently to make a quick dip in the sea bearable. Talking of bearable it was a pity I missed this charity fashion show featuring beachwear and swimwear - sound like it was a hot ticket.

In shape for the beach & zameen-zaidad.com FAIL

Summer Holidays - Sun, Sea and Spam

Comment Spam

First things first - I'm not the only community member who is tickled pink by the futil efforts of comment spam from a a href="http://www.zameen-zaidad.com/">? full marks to Billy for picking up on this silly so and so last week.

As you may have guessed its getting to holiday time and in order to look cool and groovey on the beach I've been in search of the latest summer fashion.

Swimsuit Issue

There are a million and one style of women's swimwear however for the chaps its either the obscene thought of thongs and mankinis, revealing speedos or outrageously baggy board shorts.

Either way there remains the need to shape up so I've dusted down my old Nintendo Wii and had a few wii fit sessions. Wii fit is a fun way to execise and after the christmas mania many people are finding that they can train and exercise with wii fit in the comfort of lovely air conditioned offices.

My training is going well and I hope to avoid havind sand kicked at me whilst scoffing my lunchtime holiday pasty on the beach - yes I've checked and there are pasty type snacks available at the resort.

Sun Cream

So all that is left is to find a decent sun cream - highly recommeded is the "once a day" P20 sunfilter that used to only be available in Duty Free shops but now you can find it as cheap online - Riemann P20 sunfilter is now on sale for less than £9 for a bottle that should last at least a full fortnight.

Slip Slap Slop - On the Beach

Source: Kim Mutton
Tuesday 7th July 2009, 4:01pm

a day at the beach and Chris Rea - like minted peas and lamb.

On the beach

From the music site spotify

The perfect album for a day at the beach, Rea's eighth album takes the listener from the water's edge of the title song to the sunny fields of the French countryside in "Giverny." The upbeat reggae feel of "Lucky Day" works particularly well, but it is "On the Beach" that's the standout track.

Dont Fry - Stay safe in the Sun

Cover up with swimwear and beach clothing

The scorcher summer is set to bring out the latest beachwear and swimming costume fashions but don't forget skin cancer charity message - a little bit of the old slip slap slop

Skincare charity message

Slip Slap Slop

  • Slip on swimwear lots of new styles of bikinis, tankinis and shorts to pose in glorious sunshine

  • Slap on a hat - check out more beachwear accessories to look great but stay cool in the sun safely.

  • Slop on plenty of suntan lotion and top it up frequently - especially if you go swimming

Follow the above advice and you too can enjoy the hot weather while staying safe and looking good.

Ok now which way is the beach?
