Freelander - Hello John, Want a Motor?

The decision to "splash out" on a Land Rover has to be carefully considered. A basic Defender would be appropriate but the fuel economy and lack of speed make the Freelander more attractive.

Freelander - Hello John, Want a Motor?

The decision to "splash out" on a Land Rover has to be carefully considered. A basic Defender would be appropriate but the fuel economy and lack of speed make the Freelander more attractive.

Which Landrover to choose?

Choosing a Landrover seems to continue to be a contentions issue - with claims of non patriotic Landrover news and the ongoing criticism of the poor environmental record the "chelsea tractors" have its little wonder that you look before you leap

Marketing Madness

Some motor sites seem to miss the point and instead of simply giving details that are helpful to potential customers offer razzle dazzle instead assuming that a well shot video will speak a thousand words well thats understandable for them's lucky enought obe choosing anew car but we all know the perils of secondhand deals. Scout around and you can find absolute bargains - check this freelander sales site - decent models less than 6 years old 70,000 miles onthe clock, fully loaded and all for under £3.5K but are they reliable and safe?

Land Rover Freelander information

Whilst hunting around I expected to ge thte full facts from the C4 Motor section and the Freelander feature however it was two years old - the perils of the internet archive.

Maybe I'm alone but when I'm in the process of spending thousands of pounds on a vehicle I want to know much more basic information - such as fuel cosumption etc.

Shop Around - Check Safety, Electronics, Distribution and Reliability

I was dismayed that I had to search and visit various sites to get the low down on any vehicle I was interested in.

Perhaps it is in the consumers favour that you are forced to read widely - for example indepenant reports about the freelander safety features and elsehwere to get another truely independant review Auto Express offered this fairly comprehensive review feature about the Freelander

Beat the Bankers - ANOTHER Free £100

Get a better current account and earn ANOTHER Free £100

Back last summer I was happy to share how to get a better current account and be rewarded with £100 free. by opening a current account with First Direct.

This I was reminded was too good to be true however the bank honoured its offer and coughed up which then caused this gloat about the successfull mission.

Last month i received a letter and statement from First Direct which included a £10 admin charge (to be applied the following month) which on investigation was because I "hadn't deposited the required monthly sum" during the previous months.

You can read one approach to this banks nonsense on this hit sandwich blog

I had very carefully ensured that I met the requirements of the offer (the basic requirement was to deposit £1500 each month and after checking my records I was sure of my ground and refered bank to the First Direct website.

I'm not blind - the bank had missed a trick

I couldn't believe my eyes.

On the home page a whopping splash - still offering the £100 for joining but also offering ANOTHER £100 if you leave before 12 months and have met the requirement of depositing the necessary amount for at least 6 months.

They can't pull the curtains over my eyes

A window of opportunity - will they pay me to leave?

I immediately called foul! I demanded the £100 for leaving as per the terms and conditions and transfered the full balance to another account (the £10 charge not yet deducted) then closed the account.

Another ton up
