Source: Kim Mutton Moving forward into the digital age. After the epiphany of leaving dial-up internet connections and getting broadband behind last year I've been dazzled by the speeds I now have when online. I was enthusing about my super dooper connection speeds to an old chum who immediately made me feel that I was crawling around in the dark ages. He smuggly boasted that he had Wiffy throughout his house and was able to log on anywhere arond the home. For a moment I was totally confused.com (tv adverts don't work) Why would I want to unplug all the cables and paraphinalia and shunt a monster desktop around just to continue surfing whilst on the bog? "What you don't have a LAARRPTOP?!" he cried. I felt the shame - the whole pub fell silent until a young un pointed and began laughing then the whole room collapsed with hysterical laughter. "Munchers still got a ruddy desktop - harr ahhaaaarrr" and another thing "he's static - not Wiffy - Yarr Harr Harrrrr" Wifi - Wireless broadbandOnce more into the mire. Clearly it seems the main benefit of being a laptop user is the mobility it offers. It turns out that you have to update your internet service to become Wifi - wireless. For once I was lucky - amazingly although the BT Option 1 I had was the cheaper broadband package it actually included wireless upgrade - a phone call to customer services and they sent me everything I needed to upgrade my system and I should now be able to surf anywhere within a 50 metre range of the wireless hub gizmo. Imagine that - the limitations are endless - now all I needs is a laptop Search for a laptopNow even I haven't failed to notice the appearance of these slim sleek computers perched on laps on trains and in coffee shops however it hadn't occureed to me that anyone would choose to use on in the home. What I wanted was something truely portable - so many laptops do seem to be bulky and heavy. The latest Apple MacBook Air seems to fit the bill however at over two grand methinks there's better value for money to be had. Theres been much hullaballoo about ultra portable notebook pcs lately and hunting around I did see some fantastic bargains - the Asus Eee PC being hailed as an ideal high spec yet cheap mobile computer. Look at the Size of it - at barely 7 inches you could easily lose it beneath a pasty.

Source: Kim Mutton With the choice of 4 x 4 vehicles increasing how hard is it to stick with THE original off-roader - Land Rover Following a winter of discontent with the Bentley (it was playing up back in August) and having moved into a one horse town on the edge of Dartmoor I'm becoming more and more tempted by the appeal of off road vehicles. After a thumping good downpour in the night - there's been a couple - I practically need a tractor to get as far as the pub. So the daunting task of selecting the appropriate beast begins. More and more tradesfolk round these parts seem to be going for the reliability of Japanese pick up trucks but I'm not sure I want to be seen sitting in a Izusi Jizz Ilux Trail - Its just not british. I saw this video of the land rover defender and it blew me away. Land Rover Best of BritishThe sales pitch tells me that choosing a Land Rover isn't about image or looking cool - it's a lifestyle statement. Subscription to the landrover owners magazine was offered to me and browsing through the last issue I am told that as a Land Rover owner I am confident and feel I have little to prove. How true. "Landrover ownership is a bit more of a lifestyle choice, the dream of going wherever you want, the thought of travel in strange places, the independance to do your own thing, rugged reliability....." is a comment echoed many times on Landyzone forum for Land Rover fans. Pasty Compatible? It would seem so - this imposter is an established member of the forum who lists Land Rovers and Shooting as hobbies and includes a signature that claims he spent all his money on booze, fast women and slow horses.
