Well I blew this week's budget on a trip to Banham Zoo, ho hum....

But as it's the last weekend of the summer holidays I thought we should go mad anyway. So off to the zoo which we both enjoy, hopefully to see the newly-arrived giraffes, who weren't yet there on our last visit. Before we went in we attacked our, frankly, HUGE picnic.....enough food for a family of six I'd say, never mind just us two.

It's a bit steep to get in, £20 for the two of us, but as a special occasion that's OK. All Sam's (and Daddy's) favourites were still there of course, the seals have had two pups, there are lots of monkey babies, plus of course the giraffes. We took a couple of rides on the Tiger Train, Sam spent an hour in the playground, and all in all we had the usual cool time at the zoo.

Highlight for me was the falconry display in the new arena area. Well presented by the keeper, the birds were allowed to fly over, around and even into the crowd, fantastic! In particular, the vultures! As you can see from the photo, these birds fly into the crowd and wander around looking for food - and they have such weak beaks that they can't break human skin. Sticking their head into already torn-apart dead animals, that's a different matter. If you go to Banham Zoo, make this display top of your "must see" list.

We got lost AGAIN on the way out of the zoo, so we only had 15 minutes for bathtime and tea when we got home, but we had a great day together.

p.s. advice needed please.....I've just split up with my secret girlfriend, who was a fluffy pink mouse who lived on the Moon - have I dropped a Clanger?
