Today is the seventh anniversary of two Leeds United supporters' deaths in Istanbul ahead of a European match.....

I was always a little sad about about this - I didn't know these two lads after all - until last year.

Chatting to some of the people I used to travel all over the place watching Leeds all those years ago, seems we did know one of the young men murdered in Istanbul by the Turks. At a match away at Brighton, the year before Leeds were promoted (so 98-99 season) we were in the same pub with another coachload of Leeds fans, and we got chatting to a lad called Spag. Got on well and chatted at a few other away games too. This was Kevin Speight's nickname, little did we know what would happen to him and Chris Loftus years later.

Even club managers Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet have placed flowers today....thank you....

Anyway, sleep well Chris and Kev.

If you want to pass a commerorative message on to the families, post as a comment and I will add it to the Leeds United fans' website on your behalf.....actually shed a few tears reading the heartfelt messages there, these lads will never be forgotten....
