The well-loved presenter of One Man And His Dog has passed away, aged 93.

Phil Drabble, the voice of chilhood favourite One Man And His Dog, has died aged 93.

The Beeb says "Phil Drabble brought the countryside into the homes of BBC viewers and listeners and became one of the BBC's best loved faces and voices. He will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude by millions of viewers and listeners who will mourn his passing."

I am actually surprised how sad I feel about this. OMAHD was a regular show on our family telly, entertaining and completely harmless. I loved it. I was telling Sam about it only a few weeks ago when we watched a sheepdog display at Dinosaur Land. I think Sam would have enjoyed the programme.

Phil Drabble also inspired a regular sketch on my all-time favourite radio show, Radio One's Mark & Lard. They substituted the dogs for frogs, and Phil Drabble became Scoff Cruddle. The female frogs who coralled flocks of tadpoles around ponds were known as bitches. There was even a song....first line...."If I could give you any piece of advice.......get yourself a bitch!"

So long Phil, you're one of my icons.
