Good Weekend.....Rest Of My Life? Shove It!

I had a good time with Sam this weekend, but I am completely fed up with life in every other respect....

So the weekend. Sam was ill with a bug from nursery, so we decided to delay me picking him up til Saturday dinner time. We had a LOT of fun despite the still weird weather.

Saturday afternoon we went exploring the Walks park and found a new bit (for Sam anyway, but shhhhhhhh). We also found ome more seashells which Sam thought the builders must go to Hunstanton to collect then bring back. It's not easy explaining that King's Lynn was underwater when the dinosaurs were alive. "Did dinosaurs eat fish Daddy?" Yeah mate, some dinosaurs ate fish! We brought home some nice new shells that we found - unearthed by The Walks redevelopment - and cleaned them up, lovely.

After exploring we went to "the park". All that is left is 3 grown-up swings, but Sam wanted to go anyway. He's 4 now after all! We were on the swings for nearly an hour! What a fantastic, carefree, lovely time it was. We sang songs (occasionally to the amusement of the seated, drinking boozers I think), empowered the dragon (if you know, you know, if you don't, you suck), got scary, and it was absolutely brilliant. As Sam's daddy, I feel especially proud when me and Sam are completely rolling laughing at something, then I happen to look at the path going past and there are a few people looking with that "look at those people having fun" kind of look. I also feel immediately embarrassed. But what fun!

Sam was still not 100% and didn't want a big tea, so he had ham sandwich, melon, crispy cake - hey, that sounds like a decent tea! But he wasn't scoffing like usual.

Bedtime was so sweet. Sam was very tired and was sort of slurring when he was saying "I love you Daddy" and "I love my farmyard" but that is so cool. He was asleep quite quick probably because of his last few days being poorly.

Sam appeared in my bed at 2:08 am this morning. Annoyed? Are you kidding! I love it. We cuddled in and slept for a few more hours. Well, Sam did, I woke up a LOT as usual, but I don't mind that, it's worth it. Like I said recently, I have to make the very best of Sam wanting to kip with his Daddy, it won't last for long.

When we finally got up at 6 we were straight into play-mode! We had a BRILLIANT morning playing, eating and watching telly. We arranged a massive car race at the electric track, complete with clear-up tractors and helicopter casualty evacuation. That race was very eventful, won by Dodge second was Leakless, third was Number Ten (see pic).

Then the whole thing moved to the next venue, a la F1. This being the living room floor. It's posts like this I wish I could post more pics per post, cos 3 or 4 would better describe this post's events. At the second race Wingo embarrassed himself (no pic available) and there was even more crashing, oh dear.

Back to mum time came and Sam was really mopey for the last half hour. Not sure if it was because he was having an aftershock from his illness or being sad going away from Daddy.

But we're back together on Tuesday! I love my Sam. Sam told me that he loved me. Can't be bad.
