Everyone seems to getting sick at the moment - stick with it though, and take your medicine!

Personally it's been a rubbish few days health-wise, I've had achey arms, some pains and aches in the chest area, which of course fuels my belief that I am about to die from a heart attack. Rationally though I am 95% sure it's a nasty infection. That still doesn't help me sleep though, as the worry about dieing outweighs my common sense up to now. At least two people I know have had a nasty chest bug recently, one even ended up in hospital for a few days.

Talking of hospital, another mate was taken to hospital last night after attempting suicide by lacerating his arms, fortunately he was still "with it" enough to make his way to The Woolpack where people looked after him until the ambulance arrived. I cleaned up the rest of his blood this morning. I hope he's OK, he's been mentioned a few times in my Woolpack blogs, and he's a star. Get well soon mate, I promise I'll call more often from now.

Which is another thing. After my friend L killed herself a little while ago I vowed to contact a different friend every day, just to say hi, someone's thinking about you, and if you want a chat let me know. I hadn't spoken to this bloke for maybe three weeks. Who knows if anyone else had either? I'm not going off on a big guilt trip, but you never know the circumstances and how it affects what's going through someone's mind do you? We all need to look out for each other in this modern, impersonal world.

Yesterday was Sam's first harvest festival at school, it was amazing. I got so soaked on the way there that even my undercrackers were soaked through, so it wasn't the most comfortable show I've ever seen, but Sam made me feel so happy and proud, standing up with his classmates and singing and doing the actions like a seasoned performer. As he's in Reception, his class were furthest forward, so he was just a couple of feet from the audience, and Sam hates being the centre of attention. He did so well though, and I had another few (discreet) tears at various moments. Picked him up from nursery again today, feeling a bit better (and definitely much drier), and we had a lot of fun, including another "chained cars" race where he totally astounded me. The pairs of cars headed off from the line to lap the castle - Sam went round to help "brum" them along, and I was waiting expectantly to see which cars he decided would be winning......well he said "Who will be in the lead......?" then proceeded to push out a car and caravan that he had stashed behind the castle while I was out of the room cooking tea. Are 4-year-olds supposed to play jokes like that?

Today I have also started on the "new job" if you can call it that. It's delivering a free ads paper to about 600 properties, which will earn about £40 a week. All told it works out roughly minimum wage, but beggars can't be choosers. Quite hard work too, especially feeling as ropey as I was today. Finishing off this week's round tomorrow after cleaning the pub.

Been a busy, stressful, unhealthy, incredibly sad, few days. Love you Sam, see you soon, love ya too other bloke and I'll see you soon too, you muppet!

The pic's NOT me!
