Liam Fairhurst is 11 years old and is planning to swim ONE mile for cancer charity CLIC Sargent with the aid of STAR RADIO in cambridge

Liam approached STAR RADIO for sponsorship to swim one mile. After talking to Mark Peters at STAR an idea was born................LIAMSMILE

Thanks to Star and Mark,I have received an incredible amount of donations up to now.

I am swimming this mile because, quite simply I can't walk that far yet.My leg is too weak now to walk any real distance,so a sponsored walk is out of the question! But I can swim :)

I decided after my leg saving operation to give back to those who helped me when I was down.CLIC Sargent are a great charity who help children like me,not only with money, but with breaks, short holidays and practicle help and advice.

I am determined to swim this mile in the name of JACK ,a good friend I shared many a laugh with in hospital. He kept my spirits up when I was down and sick with chemo.Sadly Jack died from his cancer this August.

Help me raise enough money to give something back in Jacks name.

And thanks a million to all those people and companies who have given so far.

I will be swimming three times a week at the Next Generation in Coldhams Lane,Cambridge so if you are near there on the 22nd pop in and cheer me on at 1 o'clock when I start my swim.

I will keep you informed as often as swimming and homework allows. But check out STARS web site at www.star107.co.uk where there are daily updates and pictures too. Here you can donate money too which is rather important to help other children less fortunate than myself.

Best wishes Liam
