Stabbings Must Stop

Can someone, somewhere, explain to me exactly what's going on in our streets? Are you, like me, a concerned parent, wondering what's happening to our childrens' world?

Once again I have to report that my basic European Right to a free and unhindered life has again been compromised by the tin can on wheels owners.

Blog: Frustrated Businessman

Got the following comment from a fellow IMM blogger Elmer Gantry today about my post concerning the national Speed Limit.

The post I'm referring to is this one here: http://www.itsmymarket.com/blogs/knightrider45/a-traffic-message-for-pensioners/

And Elmer Gantry also said:

What a nasty piece of work you must be.
Better off the road altogether I would have thought.
Try a bit on the side. Works wonders for frustrated drivers like you.

Firstly, this post was meant to be professional from someone who has months of Advanced Driver Training , I'm sorry if it appears otherwise. And I'm sorry you took exception to it Elmer.

But I stand by what I said. The actual message was based on training and experiences. Like the time I'm driving, perfectly normal, correctly and legally on an unlit road (A148) when, on rounding a bend, there was an old woman driving her car at 25mph in a 60mph zone, meaning I had to take emergency evasive action to save running into the back of her.

Or, on another occasion, I was being held up by this old man in his car, again on the same road, again at night, again at about the same speed. This man braked, hard, everytime a car drove past him in the other direction. Every time, every car.

Until he came to a complete, sudden stop without warning. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I reported this man for Dangerous Driving.

My wife was in her Volvo about four years ago when this "elderly gentleman" shot straight across a T Junction into the side of her car as she was passing, writing the car off, giving her a permanent back injury, losing her time & money at work, as she can now only work a day at a time, then has to have a day off. This resulted in my two daughters also being hurt in the collision, followed by a two year court case, constant (private) treatment for her back, which is still ongoing, and months without a car.

These are only three examples, of which there are many more.

If society condones such driving by not taking action then, eventually, the roads will become clogged up even more than what they are now, wider roads will have to be built (environmental/Global warming issue) which will have to be paid for out of taxes.

So, despite what you say Elmer, the point still stands:

Your slow actions cause accidents. Fact.

And if you, or your car, are not capable of driving safely, legally and correctly at 60mph on our roads, then you, or your car, and prefably both, should stay off the road.

Maybe the promise of new, enforced, driving tests after a certain age will hopefully get this point across to you lot.

No nastiness intended, OK? Just Professionalism, training and experience.
