IMM do not give spammers our email addresses

With reference to my entry a few days ago, Matt, the IMM administrator extroadinaire has contacted me, and asked me if I'd mind correcting my post - which I'm doing with pleasure.

Strange, isn't it, how I can write and read something, which comes across as something totally different to other people.

Matt, I'm happy to do this. I know I took a risk in posting my email address in a previous blog, and I acknowledged that risk by saying that it would be picked up by scammers, and I further said that I'd let everyone know what interesting offers I'd get through doing so.

So, just to recap - IMM do not pass on email addresses to others, and I'm sorry if, for one second, I gave that impression. They don't. And, more to the point, they don't have to.

Scammers have software programmes called robots - these programmes scan message boards, forums and so on, picking out email addresses that people post.

Point remains, don't post any personal details here or anywhere else. You will get spammed - and there's nothing anyone can do about it. If you need to publish anything with an email address, get a free, throw-away address, then you can just close it down when it's done it's job.

Matt, thanks for your reply - and I hope this corrects anything I've (unwittingly) said. And everyone, Matts looking into our PM problems as well.

Paul
