Source: Lord Manley The itsmymarket.com Great West Run team are now over two weeks into our training regime, so we thought that maybe we should try another run. Two weeks into our training regime, we had managed to do one 5 mile run. Clearly this isn't going to get us around the course, so Rowan and I (Manley) decided it was time for another little excursion. With the winter winds chilling our bones, there has been a fair amount of 'under the weather' going around, so we set our hearts on a quick jaunt out to Exwick Mill and back, clocking in at just over 4 miles. As the, shall we say 'bulkiest' team member, I am all for easing into these things gently, but Looks like we are halfway there already! Only 99 days, 17 hours, 5 minutes and 17 seconds to the run. Source: Matt We've made some neat changes to itsmymarket.com blogs! Now that we've opened up our blog section to everyone we took a look around and decided it just wasn't, well, funky enough. So as of today you can create as many blogs as you like, and invite your friends to post to your blog too. Not only that, but we've also added some nice purple boxes too. It doesn't get any better than this :) So what are you waiting for? If you still don't have an itsmymarket.com blog then create one right now. Within minutes you'll be sharing your views with the itsmymarket.com community. And if you're wondering about the running, well I went snowboarding last week and Manley and Rowan were too idle to train without me. Shameful. Source: Matt Manley, Rowan and Matt go for our first training session as we prepare for this year's Great West Run. Time to get serious! We've picked Manley's house as our training base, because it is near the canal meaning we can run along flat routes. No sense in overdoing it, that's what I say! We started our first run at about 6:30pm last night, with a vague intention of running a little way, and maybe running a bit further if we felt ok. I made sure everyone knew I had played five-a-side on Tuesday evening - getting my excuses in early! After running from the Quay up to the Double Locks and back (we didn't stop, honest!) we were going well so we continued to the Mill on the Exe (using pubs as waypoints is coincidental, I assure you). In total, we ran just over five miles. A good start. To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink aboveNot another New Year fitness drive?
Source: Matt After the excesses of Christmas, the itsmymarket.com Great West Run team turn their thoughts to training... I had a lovely Christmas, thanks for asking. With this running thing in mind, I stuck to a careful diet of chocolate biscuits, turkey, crisps, liqueur chocolates and beer. I did play football with my young cousins on Boxing Day, but I think I was more embarassed than exercised on that occasion. So I went for a run on Saturday. Nothing too challenging, just a few miles around my home. It's pretty hilly, but should have been easy. Should have been. First 'organised' training run with the others on Wednesday...
