As the Royal Mail prepare for industrial action - cost cutting begins.

The Royal Mail are in a tight spot.

Their staff aka postmen have announced that they plan on not doing their job as they approach the busiest time of year - the run up to Christmas - perhaps one of the most profitable periods for the postal service.

As onlne businesses are already announcing their intention to swap from Royal mail to other courier services you have to take your hat off to the managers how have already contacted competitors with offers to sell vans

Vans for sale

Reports of the post offices advertising their vans for sale isn't unusual - every year the Royal Mail sell a proportion of their vehicles and these are replaced by brand new vans. What is noteworthy is the targeting of local couriers who expect to pick up the lost Post Office business and will require additional drivers and vans. Usually if there is a spike in business the option to hire a van is the norm.

Van hire or used vans

Van hire companies will feel the pinch as they too expect a surge in demand at Christmas. With the prospect of many used vans flooding the market van rental busiensses are looking for new customers by running adverts to remind people that they can save a lot of money by travelling to Europe and filling a van with Christmas goodies.
