What some see as a snub, the British Ministry of Defence has elected to replace its forward fleet of Land Rover Defenders with American-made "Ridgeback"

The MoD has announced that it will replace the Land Rover Defender with Yankee Doodle Rigbacks - RIDGBACKS?!! - surely that should be Ridgebacks - a renamed Cougar 4X4.

Land Rover Army History

Land Rover's Defender Core Military Vehicle 4x4 offroad vehicles, including the Defender Rapid Deployment Vehicle (RDV) - where once the Defender was considered is a tough, flexible, multi-platform vehicle it now seems that the MoD can get a better banger for its buck and the Ridgeback offers better protection manoeuvreability and even though the latest modles of the Defender to come out of Land Rover factories boastas and all-new facia design, new seating and ventilation plus air conditioning the decision to replace has been made.

What about a Freelander?

Having read this glowing review of the latest Freelander on Tiscali it would appear sensinble to consider MOD ifying them thus providing the troops with safety AND comfort whilst going about their work in the field.

According to Freeds last post they're like budgies - going cheap - due to the outrageous car tax rip off and he points to itsmymarket's own Freelander for sale section where a savvy MoD bod could pick up secondhand vehicles at bargain prices.
