Source: Current Affairs Blog You can't believe all you read on the internet Its becoming more and more annoying to find out of date and factually incorrect pages on websites. Example - whilst searching for best price Sony 23" LCD TVThe other day I was trying to find prices for a Sony 23" LCD TV in order to get Comet to apply its price match policy. Online Dixons had the model I was after for £100 cheaper - but t he Comet deal doesn't apply to internet prices. By followiing links I arrived on Dixons-plc.co.uk site where a "store locater" function was available. I was delighted to learn that there was a branchat 240 High Street. The delight was shortly followed by frustration when I made my way to find a branch of Currys (same DSG company) but not offering the model Sony TV I wanted. The Whole Truth - Nothing Interesting but TRUEIt would appear that in an attempt to make their sites attractive webmasters feel it necessary to post outlandish claims and "interesting" stories. Classic examples of this are press releases which are simply not newsworthy however the marketeer thinks the brand noise is helpful and yet another page pollutes the internet. Some have even gone as far as making up press releases with thefull intention of misleading the public - see http://custompc.co.uk/blogs/fromthelabs/2008/08/07/most-misleading-press-release-ever/ To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink above |
