Monte Carlo - By Car

France - perfect for hiring a car and following the race

Grab a hire car in France and let’s Monte Carlo or bust!

Do you ever get bored by the usual 2.4 children package holidays? Have you had enough of Majorca, Shagaluf and the Costa del Brit? I know I have and that’s why this year I’m planning something different, something a bit more special – something with a tint of class to it.

I’ve always wanted to go on a road-trip and this year I’m determined to do it! Yep I’m going to hire a car and hit the open road. Our last holiday was nice, and as relaxing as it can get with two young children running around screaming, but it wasn’t very personal or special, it was your run of the mill all-inclusive trip to southern Spain.

This year I’m determined to have a truly continental experience, instead of the usual fortnight in a holiday park with karaoke and talent contests. So to make life a bit more exciting, I’ve decided to base our family holiday on a film, and that film is Monte Carlo or Bust!

Now if you haven’t seen the film then it’s clear that you’ve led a woefully ignorant life and you should stop whatever you’re doing right now and go and watch one of the greatest comedy films of all time! The plot of the film revolves around a big race to Monte Carlo organised by the amazing Terry-Thomas to satisfy a bet with his rival, played by Tony Curtis. As the competitors journey across France a huge amount of skulduggery, cheating, diamond stealing, mishaps and overall comedy ensues, most of it played by some of the true comic greats such as Eric Sykes, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and the French genius Bourvil.

Car Hire France

So in a wave of nostalgia and in an attempt to break away from the usual half board holidays I have decided to drag my family through the winding French lanes, all the way to the bright lights of Monte Carlo. Most trips of this type start in London, and so will ours, but to make things a little varied I’ve decide to fly into Paris and spend a few days milling around the French capital smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and wearing a beret. Once I’ve eaten enough croissants it will be time to arrange our car hire France and head off to our second destination.

After Paris we will head south and stop at Troyes and then Dijon. After Dijon we will head up into the Alps and take a small side-trip into Switzerland to visit Lake Geneva, which I’ve heard is stunning. Then we will head back to France continue on down south to Grenoble, followed by Saint Andre Les Alpes until we finally hit the Mediterranean and the bright lights of Monte Carlo.

The whole trip is going to take about 3 weeks, after all there really is no point in rushing, holidays are all about relaxing and taking it all in, let’s just hope the hire car makes it across france!

Man and a van for hire

Adverts for man and van - hire a man hire a van

Van Hire - With Man

Careful when you select to hire a van with a man - the man with the van could be a white van man and that spels T R O U B L E

Whit van man has no real sense of humour - "'ere Muppet get a license" is the sort of chant he'll offer whilst wrecklessly speeding down busy residential roads.

But write a joke on his dirty van and he'll FAIL to see the funny side.

"I wish my missus was as dirt as this" - Yeah well she is he'll rhetort,

"Also available in white" - You callin' me a racialist??

Top dirty van jokes

"

Rogue elephants in a van

Rogue elephants can impair your mobility". I guess in every report there is a grain of truth. , though an apparently healthy quality, is only valid when applied to both ends of an argument. Failing this, cynicism simply transmutes to prejudice.
Your body will soon tell you but, regrettably, most folk are too busy opinionating to liste

All I see is tickets but not for charity events.

Looks like it will be a brilliant year for big events judging by the number of ticket offers posted on the site at the moment but few appear to support charity

Charity Events

Few of the big healdine acts appear to be charity events which is disappointing and pityful bearing in mind the appearance of these "stars" on so called celebrity chat shows who always seem to slip in the charity work they selflessly do.

I'm especially keen on seeing some of the rugby six nations and was intrigued to read that in an attempt to lure gullible punters to enjoy what is percieved as a rough sport ticket agencies are employing girlie men to simper and pant whilst overcharging for poor quality seats.

Men in dresses

The term "metrosexual" has bandied about for some time now, though I don't think I've seen many men wearing lace. Skirts aren't the norm per se, though I did see several fellows sporting an extremely streamlined version of a utility kilt this summer though nearly all of them wore beards as well as a counterbalance.

trends in Japan that are nothing short of extreme. Among other things there has been an explosive increase in the number of unmarried Japanese men in their late 20's and 30's. To me it is all quite simple: They are going gay.

A note to Barrie Harrop at climate change Copenhagen

Barrie, at this stage, the existence of serious verifiable data is very much in question. There is so much out there indicating that there is no basis for a conclusion, let alone anything on which to base intelligent policy.

I know, your reply will probably not be pleasant, but the fact of the matter is, the whole discussion about thisvery complex issue has been corrupted, probably by the quest for power, sad to to say. Point to whatever you want to, the question remains the same in the minds of most, what was the motive behind the conclusion? The facts, if not demonstrated in total, will not matter.

No one in their right mind can support any policy as disruptive, managed by government or influenced by an NGO, or GSE, under the circumstances. Trust is the issue Barrie, and we here in the US don't trust our politicians, or any group demanding change in the way your side is.

Those of us with any knowledge of history know that a government policy, no matter how wrong that policy turns out to be, is very hard, if not impossible, to reverse. We also know that freedom surrendered is freedom lost. The consequences are just to great.

I wish it were not so. I think I can speak for most in saying that we wish, for just once, that we could trust political leaders, but the fact is, we can't. It is unfortunate that your community attempts to force a politcal solution, rather than persuade, but that is the MO we have to deal with, the world over.

But I have to hand it to you, you are commited. I do not question your integrity, but pelase forgive us if we do not agree. The question we all have is why? Is it true conviction based on science, political power, financial?

The unfortunate fact for the world is, we can't be sure.

The burden of proof is on your side, your cause. It is not there. That is the cost of mixing politics with science.

Dubious about Dubai Flights of Fancy

Dubai or not dubai - flights of fancy

Dubai is the world's gold-plated taps.

The Palms developments in Dubai remind me of nothing so much as the many thousands of modern housing estates that you'll find in every British town.

Endless rows of more-or-less identical Barratts homes with little or no architectural merit. Only with sand and sea views.

Flights to Dubai you say - blimey there are so many carriers to choose from - the UAE is fast becoming a hub for international travel with continued rapid expansion expansion of Dubai and Abu Dhabi international airport

If I had the money to afford one of these I could afford something unique, secluded and interesting. I just don't get who buys these Dubai homes - I guess it proves that being a chav isn't about how much dosh you have.
