Spring in Europe or Autumn in Australia?

Just reading about the delights of the lucious parks and gardens in Sydney on this article and began dreaming of warmer climes when I realised that here in Europe we are moving along into Spring whereas our friends down wunder are creeping into autumn.

Oh the joy of Spring and hopes for a super summer.

A Whole Year

Source: Current Affairs Blog
Monday 4th April 2011, 5:12pm

It has been over a year and what a year it has been.

Can you believe it - an entire year has passed since last posting on this blog - tsh tsh.

Well Spring has sprung and I am still happy to offer my words of wisdom to any visitors who care to stumble accross them.

Ongoing Crisis in Ivory Coast

Over the past year I have been alarmed at the various catastrophes that have struck the world. An earthquake in Haiti, floods in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, another earthquake more recently in Japan, civil unrest in the middle East and ongoing crisis in the Ivory Coast

The important work of Oxfam

Throughout all of these disaters the UK charity Oxfam have been among the first to react and send support and aid which is clearly what those who donate to charity would expect.

2011 has begun badly - lets hope that some more stability and sense comes to the world during the coming months.

Have you any flights?

SPOT ON

I must add my thank you to the BA volunteers on my flight back from Cape Town on Sunday night. Cabin crew did admirably! The volunteers made such light work of this trip I hope they are on all my return flights to London - the flight was a breeze.

So many thanks to all the BA volunteers and regular staff that make our flights possible during this period. Please keep up the good work. Your travelling public really appreciate your sterling efforts!

comfy and stylish - dresses and lingerie for the smart traveller

Looking at the latest post on this travel blog - found by searching the living TV for Travel blog pages was a reminder to begin thinking about summer fashions - what will be going on the lovely ladies this year - by focusing on the shopping facilities at Dubai Airport

Summer Dresses

Summer dresses will of course be light and breezy - the popular high street stores already have the seasons dresses

Hot Lingerie

Thought has to be given toward the styles and types of material used for warm weather lingerie. Soft thin cotton spring sto mind but some luxurious lingerie ranges in natural fibres like silk can be esecially cooling during the day but raise the temperature later in the evening.

Monte Carlo - By Car

France - perfect for hiring a car and following the race

Grab a hire car in France and let’s Monte Carlo or bust!

Do you ever get bored by the usual 2.4 children package holidays? Have you had enough of Majorca, Shagaluf and the Costa del Brit? I know I have and that’s why this year I’m planning something different, something a bit more special – something with a tint of class to it.

I’ve always wanted to go on a road-trip and this year I’m determined to do it! Yep I’m going to hire a car and hit the open road. Our last holiday was nice, and as relaxing as it can get with two young children running around screaming, but it wasn’t very personal or special, it was your run of the mill all-inclusive trip to southern Spain.

This year I’m determined to have a truly continental experience, instead of the usual fortnight in a holiday park with karaoke and talent contests. So to make life a bit more exciting, I’ve decided to base our family holiday on a film, and that film is Monte Carlo or Bust!

Now if you haven’t seen the film then it’s clear that you’ve led a woefully ignorant life and you should stop whatever you’re doing right now and go and watch one of the greatest comedy films of all time! The plot of the film revolves around a big race to Monte Carlo organised by the amazing Terry-Thomas to satisfy a bet with his rival, played by Tony Curtis. As the competitors journey across France a huge amount of skulduggery, cheating, diamond stealing, mishaps and overall comedy ensues, most of it played by some of the true comic greats such as Eric Sykes, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and the French genius Bourvil.

Car Hire France

So in a wave of nostalgia and in an attempt to break away from the usual half board holidays I have decided to drag my family through the winding French lanes, all the way to the bright lights of Monte Carlo. Most trips of this type start in London, and so will ours, but to make things a little varied I’ve decide to fly into Paris and spend a few days milling around the French capital smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and wearing a beret. Once I’ve eaten enough croissants it will be time to arrange our car hire France and head off to our second destination.

After Paris we will head south and stop at Troyes and then Dijon. After Dijon we will head up into the Alps and take a small side-trip into Switzerland to visit Lake Geneva, which I’ve heard is stunning. Then we will head back to France continue on down south to Grenoble, followed by Saint Andre Les Alpes until we finally hit the Mediterranean and the bright lights of Monte Carlo.

The whole trip is going to take about 3 weeks, after all there really is no point in rushing, holidays are all about relaxing and taking it all in, let’s just hope the hire car makes it across france!
