Liz Hurley's Revealing Dress

Source: hazel eyes
Thursday 25th February 2010, 3:33pm

Liz Hurley attended the Love Ball charity fundraiser in quite a revealing outfit.

Liz Hurley is no stranger to attracting attention. In 1994 she wore 'that dress' to a film premiere. Held together by safety pins, the dress and her created quite a stir on the red carpet with then husband Hugh Grant.

Now, 16 years later, age 44, she arrives the the Love Ball charity fundraiser wearing a sari without the traditional lingerie - namely a crop top known as a Choli or Ravika. Noone but Liz can be sure whether this omission was deliberate or not, to be fair it might not have been so obvious under normal lighting, flash photograph would definitely have exaggerated it, but then again, one might be forgiven for thinking that her Indian textiles husband Arun Nayar would have been aware of the potential problem.

If I look half as good as her at 44, I'll be pleased.

Yeovil Town Doorman Running London Marathon

Source: hazel eyes
Monday 22nd February 2010, 3:02pm

A familiar face from Yeovil Town football club is going to run the London Marathon in aid of charity.

Any regulars at Huish Park will have seen Colin Biss, or Big Colin, at the main stand on matchdays.

He is running the London marathon in aid of the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and a local children's charity. Yeovil Town fans are being urged to sponsor him as his preparations continue.

It is now less than two months to the London marathon and almost everywhere you go people are out running from dawn til dusk and beyond in preparation. An event like this encourages more people to get out and exercise, even if they are not participating in the event itself. Often if a family member or friend is in training, people in the same circle will take it upon themselves to do a bit of exercise, further promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Flying To The UK

Source: hazel eyes
Wednesday 17th February 2010, 11:22am

When flying back from holiday to the UK, is it best to get the closest airport possible, or the best times?

Living away from any major cities has its good and bad points. One of the more annoying aspects is the limited choice of airports and departure times.

It seems many of the flights to the UK are at silly o clock and because its a local airport you often pay more for the privilege. One alternative is to get a flight to London instead, but then there's the extra expense of getting there and back.

The smart thing to do would be to incorporate it into part of the holiday, maybe see a show or do some sightseeing, but that might shorten the amount of time spent actually away on holiday, which was the whole point of spending all that cash in the first place.

Having to get up in the middle of the night to catch a flight is one of my pet peeves, it spoils the last day cos I'm worrying all the time about oversleeping and all the things that can go wrong. Mind you, having to check out of a room at 10am then lug your bags around until 2pm in the afternoon is a pain too.

Maybe I should just stay at home!

Love Formula Found

Source: hazel eyes
Thursday 11th February 2010, 12:23pm

Looking for love or that perfect time to pop the question? Now there is a proper mathematical formula to help!

An Australian mathematics professor has developed the "Fiancee Formula". It works by factoring in the age you are when looking to get into a long term relationship and the absolute oldest age you would get married.

With Valentines day not too far away the decision whether or not to make a move could be an equation away! It's only 37% accurate though, so take action at your own risk.

Flight to Australia Competition

Source: hazel eyes
Friday 5th February 2010, 12:41pm

I have just found a competition where the lucky winner will win 2 return flights to Australia.

The competion is in the Irish Independent - http://competitions.independent.ie/win-2-return-flights-to-australia!-641.html. It costs 2 Euros to enter, and it looks like you have to book first and hand over money, maybe the winners get their flights paid for? So only enter if you're going anyway - bit of a long shot otherwise.

The flight to Australia is via Abu Dhabi, probably not enough time to look about and do any shopping though.

It does seem like a bit of a weird competition, you would normally expect to enter and win a free holiday, rather than have to book it first, it must cut down on the number of entrants quite considerably.

Why Fly To Australia

Not only is Australia an excellent choice for a long holiday, a lot of people in the UK have got long lost relatives over there, I know I've got some that came over a few years ago, but we haven't taken the trip to go back. One day perhaps - if I do go, a must see for me would be Steve Irwin's crocodile zoo. He was a legend.

Moving House - Van Hire

Source: hazel eyes
Wednesday 3rd February 2010, 2:26pm

Moving house is one of the most stressful tasks we have to do. Here are some tips to make it a bit easier.

Packing Up

1. Plan ahead. Get some sturdy cardboard boxes, Styrofoam, and extra padding to protect valuable items that can easily break.

2. Pack one room at a time. Pack stuff inside the room wherever possible. Also, make an inventory things which need to be moved and tick them off once packed.

3. Put heavy items inside small boxes. Use as small a box as possible for heavy items to save weight. Using a larger box just encourages adding more to it to stop it moving around, thus increasing the overall weight.

4. Invest in moving boxes and bubble wrap. These are indispensable when it comes to packing fragile or awkward items.

Van Hire or Removals Company?

The decision whether to hire a van and move yourself or spend the extra and get in a removals firm partly depends on if you've got any big or specialist items to move.
If so, it is probably best to get in the professionals, but make sure they have the appropriate tools, equipment, and facilities to insure that these items do not get damaged while in storage or while in transport.

In the end whether a removals company or a small man and van moving outfit does the removals, get some references and do a bit of research to make sure there are no surprises. White van man has got a bit of a bad reputation, but there are some good ones about which may well offer better value for money than the big firms.
