Random observations about people and stuff.

Mother's Day Looming

Has everyone got their Mother's Day cards?

Yikes, its Mothers Day on Sunday and I forgot to get cards at lunchtime. Then my good colleague reminded me about MoonPig, so off I trotted (no pun intended). Phew, sorted.

Flowers Sales Declining?

I wonder how the likes of Interflora are doing in these troubled times. A few years ago we used to send out flowers for Mothers Day, but alas no longer. I haven't looked to see what the delivery costs are like these days, but back then there was a premium for Sunday delivery. It was cheaper to drive the 200miles there and back.

Its my birthday next month and I have decided to splash out on a Sat Nav for the bike. The Tomtom Rider v2 comes with a bike mount and a bluetooth headset so you can also make phonecalls too. We are planning to do some touring with the bike, first trip to see the Essex cousins in June hopefully and it would be nice to avoid the motorways.

WoW Gets Behind Global Warming

Thursday 12th March 2009, 4:36pm

Some clever chap has made a video featuring Azeroth which highlights some of the main problems that are affecting the planet.

Azeroth is suffering from Deforestation, Desertification , Polar Ice Reduction and Illegal Logging and it is changing fro the worse. Why not pop along to the Treebadger and have a look at his climate change video production.

Its not specifically about whether or not you believe in climate change, it simply delivers a message that if we can all be a bit more eco-friendly in our respective parts of the world we can help preserve it for future generations.

Little changes which are easy to implement include:

  • walking short distances where a car was used before
  • recycling - I think most people have got the hang of this now
  • composting
  • turning down your heating/having it on for less time
  • insulating your home - grants are quite often available

Are Humans Affecting Climate Change?

This is one of the hottest debates around in environmental circles. People on both sides argue passionately, but I tend to lean towards the 'yes we are' group. The only way to know for sure what will happen to the planet in the future is to wait until we get there.
