Petrol Prices

Petrol prices are on the drop again, thanks to a decrease in oil prices. The lowest I've found is 111.9p at Trago's in Newton Abbot - as my friend said to me, ya can't beat Trago.

Experience Day Dawns

Source: hazel_eyes
Tuesday 3rd June 2008, 4:38pm

The long anticipated Offroad Experience Day finally took place last Friday. Was it any good? You Betcha!

It actually turned out to be an afternoon, but we probably got about an hours driving in total each. We all had a go in a Freelander, Discovery and Range Rover. All on normal road tyres, these vehicles will go up and down inclines you wouldn't believe.

The technology on the Land Rovers is extremely impressive, especially the Terrain Response System. All you do is set it to the surface you are on and it automatically sets up the car to get the best performance.

Hill Descent is awesome too, just take your feet off the pedals and it automatically applies the brakes to keep you at a constant speed of 1,7 and 3 mph in first and second gears respectively.

Freelander - Baby LandRover

Considering the Freelander is considered to be the baby of the bunch, it also is extremely capable offroad, I can see why Green Fingers is such a fan of the Freelander. It will go most places its big brothers will without any problems what-so-ever, definitely good grin value.

The Big Boys

You expect the Disco and Range Rover to be good offroad vehicles, but when you are pointing a 3 tonne RangeRover down a muddy, slippery, steep incline with knee deep ruts it can be a bit disconcerting. Take your feet off the pedals and the technology kicks in, easing it down gently with just a little slide here and there.

Its exactly the same going uphill, just point it where you want to go, ease on the power and the traction control transfers the power to whichever wheels need it, taking you easily up the hill.

I'm really pleased I got the opportunity to go and try them out first hand, it was awesome.
