World Cup Qualifiers

Monday 26th November 2007, 4:24pm

Yippee, we've got Croatia in our group again! Another chance to show them what we're made of.....soggy mashed potato probably.

Well, its World Cup Qualifying time again and stone the crows if we haven't got that world renowned footballing nation Croatia again. One of my friends said he's gonna change his nationality to Croat next summer which made me chuckle.

I'm not anti England or anything, but when they consistently play like a bunch of lemons after saying how great they are and it will be better next time there comes a point when you just get narked off.

Lets hope that the having the summer off will do them some good and a new coach will put some life back into English football again.

People in the Rain

Source: hazel eyes
Tuesday 20th November 2007, 4:13pm

Walking to work today reminded me of summer... the skies were grey and the rain was forming rivers on the pavement.

What struck me was the different levels of protection people took.

I had my warm coat, gloves and silly hat (it keeps my ears warm) plus brolley and walking boots. My feet were kept nice and dry, unfortunately the same cant be said for the lower part of my trousers.

There was quite a few braving the elements, most with brolleys of some description, although some blokes were marching along, head down, no brolley. I know men dont worry about rain very much, but they must have been soaked to the skin by the time they got to their destination.

The funniest thing I saw was someone (female) with sumer-weight shoes on, they were getting more and more out of shape with almost every stride, she must have been so uncomfortable! I only hope she had a spare pair waiting for her, wherever she was going.

Living at the top of a hill aint all bad

Source: hazel eyes
Wednesday 7th November 2007, 2:57pm

Living at the top of a hill can be a bit rubbish - its bloomin windy and not much fun to walk up at the end of the day. But it has its compensations....

I suppose the most obvious thing is that I'm not likely to get flooded, a big sigh of relief after this summer's weather. At this time of year there's another bonus in that I can go upstairs and gaze out over the 6-10 fireworks displays that are going on around Exeter :-)

Its brill, I had a great hour or so oooing at the fireworks on Saturday and Monday and I didn't have to venture out in the cold to do it! I know thats all part of the experience, but these days I prefer my home comforts lol.
