Random observations about people and stuff.

Harry Potter, a couple of questions

Read the book, really really REALLY enjoyable, but a couple of things still elude me. Will try not to give away too much for those still reading.

First of all, Hurrah! My guess as to who RAB was turned out to be correct, and I was also right about Snapes motives (although I didn't guess the full story) but my main candidates for who was going to die turned out to be completely wrong.

My confusion lies in:

a) How did Neville manage to produce the item that Gornuk ran off with?

b) I thought Hogwarts students final year was at age 17/18, how then was Ted on the train?

Fantastic story, could hardly put it down... I'm sure another couple of reads will put me straight :-)

Hello? Sun? Its the height of summer, so where is the yellow thing in the sky?

Got soaked walking to work today. Granted it was tipping it down when I woke up, and the radio did say it was going to be wet today. I thought about getting the bus, but it was only a light shower when I left the house with my trusty umbrella and the bus would have been packed out anyway, which is not fun.

So off I trotted, wasn't too bad for about 5 minutes, then it just rained harder and harder and soon there was mini rivers flowing down the pavement. By the time I'd stepped in a couple of puddles and my feet were wet, I didn't think there was much point in waiting for a bus. The rain did ease off slightly, but had a last downpour just before the end. By 11am it was a clear blue sky! D'OH!

The point is that this bloomin' weather is starting to annoy me quite a lot now, I'm not a sun worshipper but I do expect to be able to have a sunbathe in the garden this time of year. It seems that all we've had is rain, rain and more rain - including as we all know, major flooding in places, with only an hour here and there between showers and less then a week of proper nice sunny days since May..... RUBBISH!

I feel better now. Rant over.

Gordon Ramsay in Kings Lynn

Monday 9th July 2007, 10:15am

A repeat of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares was on telly last night and it featured a restaurant in Kings Lynn - Maggies (formally Rococos something Bistro). How is it getting on these days?

I didn't catch when it was originally filmed, just curious as to whats happened to it and what it was like having Gordon in town for a few days (if anyone remembers).

Thats it really, short and sweet :-)

Where is a womans place?

What do men and women expect from each other these days? How have times changed from the 1950's?

Having just read knightriders post about his youngest starting work experience, a snippet he put in there from 1955 Housekeeping magazine highlighted for me how different times are now.

I live in a DINK world (Dual Income No Kids). My other half and I share the household tasks - although we do have our 'specialist' areas lol. If he suddenly decided not to do anything and expect me to put a ribbon in my hair, polish the table and make dinner every day, then sit quietly by whilst he recounted his great deeds at work, words would be had!

I was wondering what opinions/experiences other people have about the sharing of domestic chores in todays world.
