Source: hazel_eyes 2 close shaves in 3 months - do they do it on purpose? The first one was ordinary enough, walking under a lampost and a gift from above missed by inches. Then last night walking home from work I swear this bird circled twice squawking then let loose its payload. Luckily my brolley was up... I checked and sure enough, there was seagull mess right on target. This leads me to wonder - have there been any experiments done to see if individual birds enjoy the target practice, or do we have to be wary of all birds? I certainly take precautions now when I spy them perched up above. To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink aboveWeddings Galore
Source: hazel_eyes Not just one wedding to go to last Saturday, but two! Glorious weather, shame about my feet. Saturday morning 11am, off to Kingsteignton for wedding number 1 at 12. We managed to find the church with 15 mins to spare.Just time to mingle and have a quick chat with my old workmates from the labs (the bride used to work there too). All went very well, bride and groom both turned up, the bride's dress was wonderful, they both said 'I do', the hymns were nice and easy - All things bright and beautiful and Sing Hosanna. Then off to a lovely hotel in Bishopsteignton for the wedding breakfast which was excellent and the bar was pretty cheap too. After the speeches and more chatting it was back to Exeter to shower and change before the evening reception of wedding no two. This wedding was my cousins, my other half decided we should take a short cut into town, instead of walking the usual route. The shortcut took 45mins, usually it takes 25. D'OH! This wedding was a bit less traditional - she wore a black 1950's esque dress with red flowers, suited her exactly. It was the second time in 6 months (last time was grandma's 90th in April in Manchester) to see all the family from up north which was cool. We arrived just in time to see them have their first dance - the big suprise was that someone had arranged my cousins most favourite Elvis impersonator in the world to be the entertainment! Her face was a picture, He'd made a special effort to do an hours gig for us as it was also his sons 21st birthday party that night. Have to say he was fantastic. The rest of the evening was spent drinking, making merry and yapping.
Sunday was mostly spent recuperating, assessing the sunburn (not too bad) and damage done to feet from shoes. The feet didn't get off quite so lightly, I'd worn new shoes to my cousins hen night on wednesday which had rubbed in a couple of places. The long walk into town in my sandals had caused more rub marks in different places, so if anyone steps on my feet tonight at Aikido there will be trouble :-) To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink aboveFitness an' all that
Source: hazel_eyes The pitfalls of machines that are too damn clever for their own good. Since New Year (ish) like a lot of people, I decided to lose some of the excess wobbly bits and get a bit fitter. I decided on the slow and steady approach as I'm no good at 'proper' diets. All was going well, was nearly at my target weight until about 4 weeks ago, I had a major falling off the wagon for about a week and put most of it back on again. D'oh! Got my act back together - a wedding coming up on the 9th June is a good incentive as I dont want to look like a teletubby in my nice new Rocha dress (thought about control pants, but they're £30 for gods sake!). I'm now back to where I was before the ooopsie. After a read of the interwebs banging on about %body fat, BMI etc, I got some fancy scales that tell you %fat and %water and in the package was a pedometer and a (not so great) radio - all for £20 from Amazon! Turns out my body fat is high (no real suprise) water is ok (I do drink loads), but the worst thing is that they weigh a whole kg heavier than my other scales. Grrrrr! Having fun with the pedometer tho, between going to work and getting home, I walked 8300ish steps which aint bad, plus aikido twice a week should help the various figures to keep going in the right direction.
