Random observations about people and stuff.

Derren Brown gig in Plymouth

Derren Brown at Plymouth Pavillions - huge expectations, not quite lived up to

This was a couple of weeks ago, not posted about it before because of all the new bike excitement. The show was more of the mind tricks and subliminal suggestion things that he does.... stuff like predicting numbers, pendulum swinging, card tricks, giving someone the chance to win 5k etc.

If you've read his book (well done, I found it a hard slog) most of what was in the show is explained in there. This doesn't necessarily detract from the WOW factor so much, as I didn't notice any repeating words or other unusual happenings. Was slightly disappointed he didn't put himself into a coma and walk over broken glass or bang a 6" nail into his nose, but I suppose you can't do that every night on a tour!

It was an experience to see him live, he is amazing at what he does..... but..... it was all a bit samey really, after a while you notice your bum is numb and is there time to get to the bar after?

Yeah Baby, the GSX 1400 has landed!

After a tense week of waiting, and the disappointment of Friday, the Suzuki finally arrived.

Well, here it is, my final edition Suzuki gsx 1400..... and what a beast it is. It doesn't really matter what gear you're in, just twist the throttle slightly and away she goes. Really smooth ride, easy to handle... totally lives up to all of its rave reviews. The Yoshimura exhaust goes on after 2000 miles I think, when she's run in... be interesting to see the difference that makes to the tone of the engine.

God Bless the Scammers

Having placed an advert in the Classifieds Section of IMM, I was impressed at the number of replies I got.... from scammers of varying ability

I put in an ad for my Suzuki 600 Bandit at the end of last week, and to date I've had 4 replies! This cheered me up considerably, not because they were genuine, but because of the laugh I had when reading them.

I have to say that as time wore on the emails got more believable, only the lack of detail about the advert and the bad english gave it away - 1 even said 'this bike' and 1 had a London telephone number which I thought were nice touches.

No new bike today

Source: hazel eyes
Friday 18th May 2007, 4:25pm

Oh no! Today was supposed to be bike delivery day, but its all gone wrong.

Hubby was very excited this morning, his new baby Suzuki gsx 1400 was due to be delivered... but now its arriving tomorrow morning - and he's working... not a happy bunny.

Apparently a seal was leaking oil and whilst they were waiting for the replacement part, they missed the delivery slot. On the up side he went to the garage to show them insurance and stuff so at least he's seen it and sat on it... apparently its 'awesome' lol.

Yours truly has now got to take delivery of it tomorrow morning, gulp.... no pressure. I did kindly offer to ride it to his work, but oddly he refused.

Gonna be a busy weekend, Saturday night we're off to Plymouth Pavilions to see Derrin Brown, excellent!

Have a good one everyone

Renewable Energy

Source: hazel eyes
Tuesday 15th May 2007, 4:30pm

Had a leaflet drop through the door... Solar panels with free installation! Yer right

Smile! Tis the dawn of renewable energy. We've got wave power, wind power, poo power and solar power sweeping the nation.

It's everywhere, wind farms on the coast and a bloody huge turbine right by the M4, poo powered buildings, wave energy and more recently solar panels for the masses.

As for this free installation for solar panels offer, there was no mention of the initial outlay and you only got the installation costs refunded if you allowed your home to become a show home and yours was the show home they chose for the prize. This was mentioned on the last page of the leaflet.

I did get a bloke round a few years back for a quote and it was near enough 10k then and as I haven't got that sort of money lying about (and my expensive new bike is arriving on Friday woo!) I shall be sticking to gas central heating until prices drop, they are a bit more upfront about it or there are grants available.

New motorbike!.... and home insurance.

Source: hazel eyes
Wednesday 2nd May 2007, 11:59am

A mixture of emotions at the weekend, boredom in shopping round for home insurance, then much excitement after getting a brand new Suzuki GSX 1400

God, isn't insurance dull. I usually dont bother looking round for home insurance quotes, but as this years seemed to have gone up a bit I took the plunge. I decided out of laziness to give Confused.com a go, and it was fairly easy to use. Beware tho, the quotes you get can change once you go to the individual company and specify accidental damage/ emergency cover etc.... but after the tedium of checking a few out I managed to save 140 quid, so it was worth it in the end.

My other half has been going on about the suzuki gsx 1400 for quite a while, this weekend we finally found out insurance price - its group 14 so not as bad as you might think, I arranged a loan and he promptly ordered one from GT Motorcycles in Plymouth. Sadly, Suzuki aren't making any more gsx 1400s for the UK market ever. The last batch to come out the factory are 'final editions' with a Yoshimura exhaust and a special paint scheme. Delivery will be in 10 - 14 days, which is about 14 days too late for my other half, who is going round with a stupid grin on his face and telling everyone about his new bike :-)
