France is to open shops on Sundays - Quel Domage

The French have the balance just about right the way it is, imo. What do people really need to buy on a Sunday that they can't buy on a Saturday? The main thing would be foodstuffs and general groceries, and most grocery stores are open on Sunday morning in France in any event.

Why not have a compromise, like they do in Holland, and have Sunday shopping for other things one Sunday every month? That really would cause super Euro confusion.

Stylish lingerie or a Cheap Rake

Imagine an English vistor in Paris for valentines day - hoping to find some sexy lingerie for the big day only to find that that particular Sunday lingerie stores are FERME but the opportunity to purchase garden machinery was available.

Furniture Shopping

People are entitled to at least an afternoon off a week for rest and relaxation. Why does it have to involve going round Ikea looking for self assembly puzzles, DFS or New Beds R US with the miserable squabbling kids in tow?
