Ooops - did I mention anything about the Land Rover Freelander?

It has been remarked that a blog dedicted to a vehicle model (FREELANDER) from Land Rover is unusual but I bed to differ.

Clown Car

Many enthusiasts have found the easy to use simple web publishing solutions that blogs offer a perfect way to express theire delight (and sometimes disappointment) about specific manufactureres - take a look at this clown car enthusiast who boasts his old banger gets from 0 to 60 in three years

Freelander is no clown car

This video shows what a freelander can do when asked - - - traction control systems optimised for different surfaces and terrains - keeps the wheels turning.

Not Just Freelander

I am obsessed with the Freelander - but Land Rover make other models that might be more suitable for your needs.

Anyone interested in a good old British Land Rover but wants to check other models anyone seen the latest used land rovers

Freelander Adverts (don't mention the car tax)

Freelander has been identified as one of the most popular cars to be walloped with increased vehicle excise duty.

Always one to grab a bargain the revelation that Freelanders are to be amongst the vehicles to be hit by car tax hikes has presented an opportunity to pick up some good deals as motorists try to sell their gas guzzlers lots of free classified adverts for Freelanders indicate that the prices are falling and there is debate if this is purely a reflection on the vehicle excise duty increase or another nail in the credit crunch coffin.

Freelander amongst top five hit hardest

"admitted that five of the UK's 30 most popular cars would pay more - the 2.2l diesel Land Rover Freelander, the 1.6l unleaded Toyota Auris, the 2.2l diesel Honda CR-V, the 1.8l unleaded Vauxhall Vectra and the 1.6l unleaded Vauxhall Zafira."

Yahoo UK Cars feature an illuminating review of the Freelander in which details of the low environmental impact this compact suv has which suggests the increased tax is mis-directed

Dirty Filthy Diesels - Freelander "NOT GUILTY"

Channel 4 Motoring reports that a proportion of each Freelander purchase price generates a contribution to fund climate offset via a company called Climate Care - the amount being designed to reflect CO2 emissions for 3 years typical use or 45K miles.

Freelanders to the rescue

Land Rover dealer's generous donation will help save lives.

THE crew of the North Wales air ambulance can continue to save lives even when weather prevents the chopper from taking off – thanks to a motor dealer.

Brand new Freelander

Llandudno Junction-based Conwy Land Rover, have provided the crew with a brand new Land Rover Freelander 2, 4x4 model - the UK's best selling SUV.

Third Land Rover donated will help save lives

It is the third vehicle the company has provided for the Caernarfon-based team who would otherwise have their activities hugely curtailed during bad weather.

“Over the past 16 months the Land Rovers have proved invaluable on occasions when the weather has prevented the helicopter from taking off or when it was being serviced,” said paramedic supervisor Ian Binnington.

“The vehicle is also used to attend incidents very close to base, such as at local caravan parks, and when very rough terrain is involved.”

The Land Rovers would normally cost about £25,000 each so the donations are very welcome.

Freelander - Where to look online.

A quick search for information about the Freelander returns many results..read on

Blimey - great idea from Whats Going On - finding Freelander on Social Networks - I just took a look and there are Facebook groups already - One is encouraging some unfortunate chap called Jack Freelander to come out of the closet.

A couple more are http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4936818331 and even more specific is this freelander 2 group.

Finding out about Freelanders Online

Entertaining as these Facebook groups are many people who are considering buying a Freelander want to see authoritive reviews and comments in the "social media" and that is often found in online versions of traditional newspapers and magazines.

Free Forums For Freelanders

Sites such as Euroncap has the freelander saftey report freely available and is considered impartial and there are a multitude of landrover forums where freelander owners can ask opinions of other trusted members.

Land Rover Blogs

Some are so keen to praise the brand that some enthusiasts take the time and trouble to maintain a dedicated LandRover Blog - it is of course most likely that the reviews will have some bias but on the other hand there is nothing to prevent disgruntled owners expressing their concerns about the vehicles they drive.

Motoring Journalists

Top Gear is a well respected motoring authority and anyone looking to find out information would be well rewarded by a visit to its account of the Freelander from Clarkson and the boys (making all the blooming noise) rather than just get the hard sell from landrovers freelander web page.

Land Rover's Freelander 2 set to silence the critics with "Terrain Response" technology

There are some who have commented on the ability of the Freelander when put to the test - but the Freelander 2 is set to silence them.

Adopting the "Sticks and stones" approach Land Rover went on to see the Freelander 4x4 SUV Sports Utility Vehicle become a best seller

Freelander 'Terrain Response' Technology

Combining the thrills of of-road action with the quality soft-road drive Land Rover have included their patented terrain response system as standard on all Freelanders bar the very basic entry models. This technology intelligently links the gears, chassis system, coupling and engine to give the ultimate drive on whatever terrain your on. Snow, Mud, Sand and general driving are all tackled as though you had a freelander expert as co-pilot beside you - ensuring maximum safety whilst delivering optimum performance.

See this video to "feel" the traction control of a Freelander with Terrain Respose

Freelander 2 - "Just gets Better"

Don't just take my word for it - Read motoring jounalist David Wilkins review of the road test he gave a Freelander in the Independent.

The Independent test drives are a valuable resource as not only is a paid journalist invloved but a good selection of the public are able to express their point of view.

Want to test drive the next generation freelander ?

You can apply to become part of the road test team e-mail motoring@independent.co.uk and you could be in the running for the next generation freelander or SUV.
