Slovakia Runs Out of Workers

Blog: Common Sense 4 Britain

Slovakia has a problem - she is running out of workers. Some 75,000 slovaks are thought to be living in Britain as a result of the recent EU expansion, and this emigration is causing problems for Slovakia.

Volkswagon, Peugeot and KIA are all investing in new factories in the country. Recruiting by advertising a monthly wage of £300, Peugeot is working hard to find recruits, and has had to build 700 flats and 700 single rooms in an attempt to entice new workers. But it's not working.

A local newspaper is launching a massive campaign to try and get the country's workers back, and has called for the 60,000 Slovakians working in the nearby Czech Republic to return home.
