Common Sense 4 Britain
Be warned. With immediate effect everyoneÂs phone calls, from every telephone, call box and mobile phone is now recorded, and records kept for 12 months. And everything's being recorded for possible use by more than 700 official organisations. These include the Inland Revenue Customs & Excise, Social Security, the Police, Councils, NHS trusts, the Department for Transport and the Food Standards Agency.
This is all thanks to the European Union's Data Retention Directive, put in place to set the ground rules for spying on Britain's people.
This is the same directive that has been responsible for large riots in Germany. And now, we end up with the result that any misdemeanour, such as parking offences and speeding, can result in your phone records being investigated.
And how did this new directive creep in? Simple. Labour used the European Communities Act of 1972, which allows the Government to bypass normal democratic conventions as long as there's a directive in existence.
In other words, Labour could sneak it in through the back door without telling anyone. Wasn't that good of them?
And there's more. The Government plan to pass powers within 18 months to monitor our email and internet activity.
Criminals are going to have a field day, as it's going to be far easier to blackmail others and extort money. The Government, and hundreds of thousands of civil servants, now have right of access to our telephone records.
New Government computers have the power to provide authorities with a vast range of information and turn it into an intimate profile of our life, our interests, activities, friendships, our finances, and everything else they see fit to. Remember the old days, when we were innocent until proven guilty? Under this government, and Europe, we're now all assumed to be guilty until THEY can prove otherwise.
