Source: knightrider45 Well, almost. Home curfews are in chaos as hundreds of criminals are simply ripping off their tags. The Home Detention Scheme for criminals is in chaos after a doubling in the number of criminals who have escaped surveillance by removing their electronic tags.
Ministry Of Justice figures recently released show that tags were ripped off 1,942 times last year, compared to just 1,073 in 2005.
Failures in this system include offenders melting tags with cigarette lighters and the fact that the overall system is reliant on the 02 mobile phone system means that it crashes every time 02's network fails. This allows criminals to leave their home, or bail hostel, without being monitored.
It has also been recently discovered that the tags won't work if the wearer is in a cast iron bath. Some 2,700 offenders, including those linked to terrorism, are currently tagged. Conservative MP Tim Loughton (West Sussex) said: "The Government is using tagging as a soft option because of prison overcrowding. But poor monitoring means criminals are at liberty to re-offend." Source: knightrider45 Slovakia has a problem - she is running out of workers. Some 75,000 slovaks are thought to be living in Britain as a result of the recent EU expansion, and this emigration is causing problems for Slovakia. Volkswagon, Peugeot and KIA are all investing in new factories in the country. Recruiting by advertising a monthly wage of £300, Peugeot is working hard to find recruits, and has had to build 700 flats and 700 single rooms in an attempt to entice new workers. But it's not working.
A local newspaper is launching a massive campaign to try and get the country's workers back, and has called for the 60,000 Slovakians working in the nearby Czech Republic to return home. To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink aboveEU Labour Liars
Source: knightrider45 Despite constant assurances to the contrary by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, a leaked Labour party memo has come to light, which says the following: “The Government does not accept that we should agree to extend full ECJ (European Court Justice) over very sensitive areas......These raise sensitive issues relating to national sovereignty - law and order and the Criminal Justice process. An acceptance of extended jurisdiction would have to be on a “Once and for all” basis. This would be a significant extension of the ECJ's legal responsibilities.” The labour chairman of Labour's own review committee, Michael Connarty, has said “This is a takeover of the rights of this Parliament.” So, Mr Brown, now that your own party have called you a liar, where's our referendum? Especially as, just before you became Prime Minister you said: “The manifesto is what we put to the public. We've got to honour that manifesto. That is an issue of trust for me with the electorate.” And especially as EU chiefs have given the game away as well with Article 4 of the new treaty referring to it as “The Constitution”. Source: knightrider45 Wiltshire pensioner June Turnbull, 79, who has volutarily turned a village flowerbed into a work of art has come to the attention of Wiltshire's Health and Safety inspectors when a highways inspector saw her at work and Âreported herÂ. She has been informed that she poses a health and safety risk, and has been ordered to stay away from the flowerbed she has grown herself, at her own expense, until she complies with the H & S requirements. June cannot do any more work on the flower bed unless she errects three warning signs, recruits a “lookout” and both must wear a flourescent yellow jacket. Mrs Turnbull, who is registered disabled, said” They can send me to jail if they like. I just want to be left alone.” To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink aboveCrazy Britain 9- Wheelie Bin Theft Victim Needs Counselling

Source: knightrider45 Oops. After 10 years of Labour rule, unemployment has hit 12 per cent, which is one in eight of the working aged population and more than double the official rate. And 20 per cent of those are under 21.
Although 2.5 million new jobs have been created over the last ten years, one and half million have gone to migrants as a result of the EU's expansion.
British jobs for British people Mr Brown?

Source: knightrider45 The likelihood of Gordon Brown calling an early election looks more likely now as he will want to avoid calling a General Election in the midst of a recession he has created British households are facing the biggest income squeeze in decades. The weight of higher debt payments and costs - not to mention taxes - is set to hit families everywhere in the country.
High street spending is already falling, house prices are moderating, especially in the South, insolvencies have risen and home repossessions have jumped.
Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank Of England, has admitted this week that debt and insolvencies are now a serious Social issue, and the bank has acknowledged that families are spending more of their income on mortgage payments than at any time since the housing crash in the 1990's.
The Bank of England are seriously considering raising the interest rate next month to 6 per cent in an attempt to control inflation. Repossessions and insolvencies are expected to soar as a result.
Financial experts have warned that the UK economy is heading for it's worse year since 1992, with the consumer spending slump halving Britain's output.
Speculation is rife that Gordon Brown may call a snap election before the painful economic effects of his spend and tax policies, along with interest rises, become obviously, and painfully, apparent to the British public. Source: knightrider45 Europe Minister Jim Murphy has admitted that under the new EU treaty, Britain will lose itÂs veto in 50 areas. Although 13 of those areas are protected under a special deal, the remaining 37 areas involve critical issues over which Britain will lose overall control, being forced to submit to European legislation and control.
The Critical areas include transport policy, energy, tourism, civil protection, space research and commercial policy. Each of these areas will be controlled by Europe. And Gordon Brown is still refusing to give the country a referendum, which was promised to us in the last election. Tory MP John Redwood has confirmed that the lack of a referendum will result in Britain giving away her powers to Europe. The officials now want another £12,000 to fund another year's research. Kevin Hallas, who led the DTI study has said ' If the floors not wet it may be better without a towel. Births are up by 12.5%, but there has only been a 4.5% increase in midwives. Tory leader David Cameron has warned that 40 maternity units and 90 A&E wards in English hospitals are in danger of closure. Source: knightrider45 Prescriptions are free in Wales. In Britain, we are charged a £6.85 flat fee per item. A recent News Of The World Survey has proved that many of our medicines are available much cheaper direct from pharmacies abroad. Examples shown were Mefenic Acid painkillers at £1.12, Omeprazole (Stomach Ulcer/Heartburn) at £3.69 for 28 capsules, and Captopril (Blood Pressure) at £4.19 for 60 capsules. Source: knightrider45 Gordon Brown has come under attack from Tory Leader David Cameron, who has accused the PM of cheating the British Forces saying 40% of them have been given a tax hike by Labour Tory research shows that 37,470 soldiers will pay more tax as a result of the Prime Ministers last budget.
David Cameron has branded the tax scam shameful. The 37,470 squaddies earning between £14,322 and £17,406 are paying more tax because of Browns decision to scrap the ten pence tax rate, forcing the squaddies to habd back millions of pounds to the treasury. The recent pay rise granted to Privates has already been swollowed up by higher rent, accommodation and food rises. Privates earning the basic £14, 322 do not qualify for benefits such as tax credits, council tax rebates or other payments. A basic level Private now pays £2,723 in tax, £100 worse off, as they fight in our trouble spots. Source: knightrider45 Families are to be forced to squeeze their rubbish into new extra small wheelie bins or risk a £1,000 fine under the latest Labour plans to crack down on household waste A Government report calls for "Bonsai Bins", roughly half the size of the wheely bins currently in use, to encourage households to separate more of their their rubbish for recycling. The new guidelines warn against letting larger families keep the bigger bins because other households might suffer "Bin Envy". People who fail to cram all their non recyclable waste in the new bins will face criminal prosecution if they leave extra rubbish bags on the street. The new £1,000 fine represents another New Labour tax, in addition to the £100 fixed penalty notices that "Criminal Offenders" can receive already. Source: knightrider45 Teenage science student Abigail Howarth has been banned from applying for a training scheme with the Environment Agency because she is white and English. But she was told she could have applied for the position if she was "White,Other" - Welsh, Irish or Scottish.
Abigail said" To be told White English ruled me out in my own home county shocked me. I know why there are positive action training schemes to assist those who are genuinely discriminated against but when it's broken down to this level it seems crazy to me.' A Commission for Racial Equality spokesman said that the Environment Agency was fully correct and legal in it's actions, as Positive Action can only be used to encourage or train particular under-represented groups. Source: knightrider45 Labour is replacing full time Police Officers with the cheaper 'Pretend Bobbies' official figures have revealed last weekend. The biggest police forces are taking on significantly more Police Community Support Officers, or PCSO's, whilst employing fewer fully trained Police Officers to patrol our streets.
The PCSO's each cost more than £10,000 less annually than their Police counterparts; their training lasts just three weeks as oppose to 6 months training, followed by a 2 year probation for Police Officers.
Shadow Home Secretary, David Davis, said 'PCSO's have their role, but that role is not to replace "proper" Police Officers with full police powers. Yet again the Government is cheating the public by stealth cuts in police funding.'
Brian Stockholm, chairman of the Sussex Police Federation, said: 'What is needed is an increase in Police Officers, not a decrease - because Police Officers will observe and engage with what they see is necessary, but PCSO's can only observe and report.
Jan Berry, Chairman of the Police Federation for England and Wales, said: ' PCSO's are increasingly replacing Police Officers and that visible police presence. Police Officers will get deskilled and, as time goes by, there will be no alternative but to give PCSO's increased powers.' PCSO's presently have no statute power and have no lawful right, other than by means of a citizens arrest, to intervene in detaining suspects involved in crime. They are purely normal citizens who patrol our streets in a uniform To comment on, or report this post follow the permalink above 50 Billion Pound Pension Theft
Source: knightrider45 Every household in Britain is paying £5,000 to subsidise gold plated pensions for Civil Service Staff. This bill has rocketed since Gordon Brown caved in as chancellor by letting 3 million pen pushers retire at 60 - while the rest of us now have to work until we're 67. Gordon Brown has stolen £50 billion from the pension savings of ordinary workers as well following his budget in 1997 when he scrapped tax credits on share dividends. Source: knightrider45 New Labour has vowed to veto EU proposals to standardise VAT rates throughout all member states, meaning Britain would lose it's zero rating rate. When Britain joined the EU in 1973, we were granted concessions on books, newspapers and childrens' clothing. The EU would like to see an end to the zero rating and intend to table proposals at the end of 2008 or soon after. A Treasury spokesman said, "The UK's zero rates are fully safeguarded under existing agreements. We will not agree to proposals that would undermine the fairness of the UK VAT system." Time will tell. If childrens clothes jump in price by 17 and half percent, you'll know the Government failed to veto the proposal.
