Labour Controlled Norwich Council is the first council in Britain to start using this new stealth tax

UK Motorists are being hit yet again by Labour with the start of Local Councils charging residents to park their own cars outside their homes. Council permits will be changed and charged according to the size of your car

And Labour Controlled Norwich Council are the first council to start charging this new tax, linking parking permits to the size of the car to raise millions of pounds in extra revenue.

The Local Government Association said many other Town Halls were watching the scheme "with Interest".

The updated Norwich Council permit system penalises all family (estate car) owners as well as many other family saloon cars will be "upgraded" to the same status of the big four wheel drive gas guzzlers because of their size - regardless of the engine emissions.

On street parking permits from Norwich Council presently cost a standard, flat rate fee of £16.00. Under the new tax, there are three bands of permits, according to your car size. The largest band will now cost £30.00 for a permit, a 90% increase , with the loosely described "middle" band rising to £22.00.

The Council, have however been generous - if you drive a small car, which fits in with their small car band (important - your small car may be a medium size according to the Norwich Council database) - the price stays at £16.00

Norwich Council have, of course, defended the new parking permit scheme (aka tax) - Councillor Brian Morrey admitted the move will lead to increased revenues, but said at the same time: "That's not the point of the plan, and the money would be used for transport improvements. It is a deliberate plan to push people towards owning small cars, which generally have lower emissions but also don't cause such problems with parking."

Thank you Norwich Council. I'm glad I don't live or work there.

A Disgrace to the British People

Gordon Brown has done it. He’s signed away Britain’s power to the European Government in Brussels. It’s due to become Law in January 2009

He has scribbled his signature on the bottom of the EU Reform Treaty sometime between the Port and the cheese at a Lisbon banquet on Friday.

This is a betrayal to the millions of brave men who gave the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives fighting in wars to protect Britain's Sovereignty and to stop Britain falling under foreign domination.

Britain fought against Germany in World War 2 to prevent Germany establishing a United States of Europe, ruled by one Central bank in Germany, and run under German Powers & Government. Millions lost their lives doing so.

In the few seconds it took Brown to scribble his signature on this piece of paper, Brown has stated that those millions who fought for Britain's independence have wasted their lives. He has almost given Hitler what he wanted at the start of World War 2.

It's a betrayal & disgrace to the British people. Brown is taking away all our powers, giving them to unelected Brussels politicians without giving us the Referendum he promised the country before he came Prime Minister.

And there's nothing the British people can do. Brown will go down in history as the Prime Minister who gave the country away.

Adolf Hitler would have been proud of him. Winston Churchill must be turning in his grave.

What a disgrace. Even more so, that he's been allowed to do this.

Britain to spy on all our phones calls.

Be warned. With immediate effect everyone’s phone calls, from every telephone, call box and mobile phone is now recorded, and records kept for 12 months.

And everything's being recorded for possible use by more than 700 official organisations. These include the Inland Revenue Customs & Excise, Social Security, the Police, Councils, NHS trusts, the Department for Transport and the Food Standards Agency.

This is all thanks to the European Union's Data Retention Directive, put in place to set the ground rules for spying on Britain's people.

This is the same directive that has been responsible for large riots in Germany. And now, we end up with the result that any misdemeanour, such as parking offences and speeding, can result in your phone records being investigated.

And how did this new directive creep in? Simple. Labour used the European Communities Act of 1972, which allows the Government to bypass normal democratic conventions as long as there's a directive in existence.

In other words, Labour could sneak it in through the back door without telling anyone. Wasn't that good of them?

And there's more. The Government plan to pass powers within 18 months to monitor our email and internet activity.

Criminals are going to have a field day, as it's going to be far easier to blackmail others and extort money. The Government, and hundreds of thousands of civil servants, now have right of access to our telephone records.

New Government computers have the power to provide authorities with a vast range of information and turn it into an intimate profile of our life, our interests, activities, friendships, our finances, and everything else they see fit to.

Remember the old days, when we were innocent until proven guilty? Under this government, and Europe, we're now all assumed to be guilty until THEY can prove otherwise.

Unions Pushing Gordon Brown for EU Referendum

Delegates at the TUC conference earlier this week have demanded the Prime Minister give the British people a say over EU membership in a national vote.

This is a major embarrassment for Labour, as the TUC now looks set to form an alliance with the Tory party due to Labours constant refusal of a National Referendum.

Bob Crowe, general secretary of one of the unions at the TUC, the RMT, said: "If it is good enough for the Irish to have a vote in the referendum,it should be good enough for British workers.

The vote came as it was discovered that Britain has been involved in emergency talks in Brussels to ensure that European judges are not able to challenge our Foreign policy as EU officials have "watered down" a key Blair "Red Line", removing Britain's right to control our own Foreign Policy.

David Cameron, Tory leader, has promised to force a vote in the House Of Commons when MP's return from the Summer recess. Cameron called on opposition MP's to back the motion calling the treaty "the wrong constitution for Europe"

Crazy Britain Update

Britain's health & safety continues to go crazy. A builder who broke his ankle in three places has been refused surgery until he quits smoking.

John Nuttall, 57, snapped the joint whilst at work in 2005 and has had to have two morphine injections daily to control the pain.

John, a smoker for 40 years says that he's paid his National Insurance for 40 years, along the additional cigarette taxes, but the NHS are shutting him out until he quits.

This follows a ruling by the then Health Secretary, Patricia Hewitt, in June, giving doctors the right to refuse surgery unless smokers give up for at least 4 weeks.

Proposed New NHS Guidelines

The Government hasn't thought of these - yet. How's this for a few more "Useful", life enhancing, strategies:

Drug Overdosers: should not be treated until free of drugs for 4 weeks minimun

Alcoholics: should not be treated until free of alcohol for four weeks

Traffic Accidents: Should not be treated until proven that they have driven any vehicle for 4 weks

DIY Accidents: Also deemed to be the fault of the casualty - therefore won't be treated.

Old age complaints: Also the patients own fault - should not be treated.

BUT:

All patients found to be working for the Health and Safety departments, in any capacity, will be immediately admmitted under the Mental Health Regulations.
